Encouraging posts from non-Democrats regarding John Edwards
I recently posted on another message board the article written by DjTj about John Edwards and got a very positive response, even from non-liberals/democrats. Here are some of the responses I got:

"I don't think John Edwards can get the nomination.. but if he can I'll vote for him. However, if he doesn't... I'm voting Bush."

"I like this guy a lot too, though i have some issues with his economic policies. He is definately my favorite Dem running and probably the only one i could see myself voting for over Bush."

And this is coming from the most notorious right-winger on the board, so it's positive coming from him:

"Edwards: Former Trial Lawyer who made his millions off of suing business, far more likeable than other Democrats.."

This is only about 20 minutes after posting too.

3. its very hard to NOT like this guy
and he's centrist enough to appeal to a wide swath of the electorate.

But I've been saying this for several quarters now.

4. That's good
an independent (from NC) I know said he would vote for any of the dems over bush except Edwards. Maybe that independent was an anomalie (I hope so). At least he has been countered.

5. I think there's a lot of negative press in NC...
...from the right wing because they were initially expecting a Senate reelection campaign and now they have switched gears to Edwards' Presidential campaign.

Once Edwards starts showing his ads and stumping in his home state, a lot of these people will come back, esp. since there has never been a President from NC.

wants me to bring home my copy of Four Trials next time I head home. I don't think my parents have ever voted for a democrat. It really surprised me, but from what I can tell she's keeping an open mind.

Alot of republicans that I know are upset with Bush, but do not publicize this because of the current environment. The minute you say that you are leaning against Bush you become labeled a 'socialist', communist, liberal, unpatriotic and on and on and on. However, I know for a fact that they are looking for a 'way out' from Bush and would not mind seeing a more centrist Democratic president.

Though, in the end, it probably doesn't matter with everyone I know since I'm here in the lone star state.
