Something you can do NOW : Join the Shays' Rebellion!

Yesterday, Rep. Chris Shays of Connecticut became the first Republican member of Congress to heed our call to demand that Tom DeLay resign from Congress.

A new Shays' Rebellion has begun.

And we're going to make sure this one is successful by ramping up our public accountability campaign on three more members of Congress, Reps. Roy Blunt of Missouri, Jim Nussle of Iowa, and Jim Gerlach of Pennsylvania. Our ads and grassroots campaign begins in these districts tomorrow. We will not let them remain silent about DeLay's corruption, or speak out without being answered.

Here's how you can help:

Write a letter to the editor of your local paper praising Rep. Shays for standing up to Tom DeLay's big money corruption and urging that your congressman do the same.

Call Rep. Shays' office to thank him at 202-225-5541. Then call your own Representative through the Capitol Hill switchboard at 202-225-3121 to ask them if they are defending DeLay's corruption or standing with democracy and decency. Help us start off this media campaign with a bang by making a donation today.

This is a fast-moving story. On Saturday, Newsweek reported that Jack Abramoff, the disgraced lobbyist who funded DeLay's trips would soon release emails about how much DeLay knew and when he knew it. Yesterday's bombshell came when Shays' said DeLay should resign and ultra-conservative Senator Rick Santorum called on DeLay to explain himself. For breaking news, check out the Daily DeLay blog.
