Dear Dr. Dean: Dems missed a major chance to stand up for working folks
when they failed to stop the bankruptcy bill. They chose instead to protect the profits of the banks and credit card companies and the assets of millionaires.

Because they failed to stop this egregious, one-sided giveaway to banks and credit card companies, which also conveniently failed to close known loopholes for millionaires, I will no longer be supporting the DNC, the DCC or the DSCC.

What I will be doing is rewarding those Democrats who vote like Democrats by sending money directly to their campaigns-- those Democrats who seek to protect and defend hard working Americans against the greedy special interests-- in other words, real Democrats--those who stand for economic justice.

1. Amen - I'm telling the Dems who voted for this to suck it
They'll not get my vote again. Who's got the roll call of turncoat Dems who voted for this?!?

3. Not a single Republican voted against the bill
So sad...because we Democrats couldn't get united on this.

5. Dems enabled Rethugs. If Dems can't stand up for economic justice, they
stand for nothing!

4. So you'll be sending money to Joe Lieberman?
He voted against this bill, but he also voted for cloture of the debate on this bill. Lieberman was trying to help his corporate donors by voting for cloture on this bill's debate and trying to look "liberal" by voting against this bill when it came to the senate floor. You can't just look at this vote or the empty rhetoric Hill Dems spew. You need to weigh the actions or lack of actions in the whole mess.

It was the cloture vote that Dems had the best chance of aborting this bill, and Dems, like Lieberman, "kneecapped" the Democrats by voting for cloture.

6. No. I am on to Lieberman. You are right. Senate bears responsibility for
not stopping this bill. The House has voted for this rotten legislation every time. The Senate knows better.

7. The vote was dismal. There is much work to be done in this Party
The way basic tenets of belief are now twisting in the wind the day is coming when I will probably qualify as a Reactionary, trying to turn back the clock and reverse all of the so called "reforms" to Social programs, tax laws, worker and consumer protections etc that corporate Republicans and Democrats have continually been ramming through. Being a Democrat is supposed to mean something. Dean is certainly still a Democrat. At least we still have one at the top of the Party.

8. I think the blame needs to be shifted away from Dean and on to the people
that really should be stopping the Dems from being gigantic asses - Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. They are the "leaders" of the Senate and House Dems and it's their job to get people "in line" for voting, not Howard Dean.

Some people just want to criticize him no matter what. I for one think he's doing a hell of a job! Go Howie!

10. I agree with you. Dean has little to do with that
and he is not involved in the different bills. (Should he be is another question).

The main person to be criticized here is Reid, who not only did not fight for the bill, but voted for it and is now being proud of his vote.

Pelosi did not succeed in holding the caucus, but after the Senate vote, it was difficult and at least she talked strongly against the bill.

11. Agree. Reid and Pelosi both told Dean to not set policy because that is
what they are suppose to do. Dean respected their wishes at the time he ascended the DNC Chair, and while he's busy trying to rebuild the Party infrastructure from the grassroots up, he allowed Reid and Pelosi to have the Media limelight to promote their leadership and policies.

But that will change in the near future. Dean gave an inteview with USA Today, his first national interview since winning the DNC Chair, and he said that he will start speaking more in the national spotlight. Reid and Pelosi have had their time, and while it's a mixed bag on their leadership abilities, they and the Dems who are screwing working Americans are hurting Democratic chances of winning back Congress in 2006, so it's time for Dean to speak up nationally.

Give those Repukes, DLC clowns, and DINO's Hell, Howard!!

9. Has Dean said anything about the vote?
Just wondering. I'd be very disappointed if he agreed with it.
