The Dems: Bums--the "New Security Democrats", Biden, Clinton, et al

With the majority of the public against the war, Democrats have the perfect opportunity to differentiate themselves; so why are they embracing Reaganomics and pre-emptive war?

2. Uhh...WE are the major donors now, remember?
You think corporations will take Dems over the Republicans?

American business interests have made their choice. As soon as Democrats stand up for the American worker (and in turn, ask for their monetary support), they will reap their past corporate contributions tenfold.

The only question is whether the current crop has the intuition and the gall to do it.

4. I agree about the tenfold part.
Dean has proven that it can be done.

But they still have corporate donors. No where near the level of the R's, but they have 'em.

5. I'm just saying that the corporate $ shouldn't drive policy decisions.
We should have more power in determining the Democratic agenda, and soon we will.

6. From your keyboard to god's ear...
or something like that.

I can't help feeling that what you say is absolutely true.

3. If the economy goes bad and Iraq (and any other invaded countries)
are still in chaos, this could be an incredibly stupid strategy for all 5 mentioned - Clinton, Edwards, Bayh, Biden and Richardson. It is highly likely that the economy wil be worse, because we are doing absolutely nothing that makes sense relative to it. With Iraq, they (and the Republicans) may try to spin the story as they are doing now, but if there is a virulent theocracy, a civil war, or if our involvement is near current levels, this will be bad.

What I don't understand is that this position is the Republican one - so it seems to help one of them win the primary only when things are good, but then the Republicans are in good shape.

If he is right that all 5 of them have the same position, they may knock each other out by splitting the vote of people in agreement with that position - Centrists. The other canddates I can think of are: Feingold (if he still opts to run), Clark, and Kerry. In addition to "fringe" candidates. I have no idea where to place Clark, as he has no voting record. Although his (stated) votes for President show he wasn't a throughout his ife a liberal, he may run as a liberal.
