Republican Accused of 'Bolton Betrayal'

(CNSNews.com) - Supporters of John Bolton are furious with Sen. George Voinovich, an Ohio Republican who joined Democrats Tuesday in expressing concern about Bolton's dealings with co-workers and underlings. With Voinovich refusing to back Bolton for the time being, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee postponed a vote that would have sent Bolton's nomination to the full Senate for anticipated confirmation. President Bush has nominated Bolton to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

'Traitor'

Move America Forward, a group that opposes the United Nations but backs Bolton, expressed outrage that a Republican Senator would refuse to back President Bush's nominee. "Shame on Senator Voinovich," said Melanie Morgan, co-chair of Move America Forward. "Senator Voinovich indicated he was absent from the Bolton confirmation hearings, which explains his ignorance of Mr. Bolton's qualifications to serve as a voice for America's interests at the United Nations," Morgan said. Move America Forward said it will run radio ads criticizing Voinovich for his "obstructionist conduct" regarding Bolton. "He has now empowered Democrat opponents of Bolton to conduct a fishing expedition to dig up every unsubstantiated charge against him as they frantically work to embarrass President Bush by once again smearing another one of his nominees," Morgan said.
Move America Forward has already aired television commercials supporting Bolton's nomination on national television networks.

"We are going to put our resources into putting the heat on Senator Voinovich until he sees the light. Standing up for American interests at the U.N. is urgent, and further delays only aid those who merrily wear the 'Blame America First' label," said Morgan. In addition to the ad campaign, Move America Forward has also put out an alert for its members to contact Senator Voinovich's office to "register their outrage" over his actions." "Shame on Senator Voinovich," the ad says. "After the Democrats smeared Condoleezza Rice for Secretary of State and Alberto Gonzales for Attorney General, how could Voinovich side with the Democrats in smearing John Bolton?" It suggests that Voinovich has "become a traitor to the Republican Party."

'Weak-Kneed Republicans'

The Freedom Alliance, another Bolton defender, blasted "Democrats and weak-kneed Republicans" for letting the corruption at the United Nations continue unabated. President Tom Kilgannon today released the following statement regarding the delay of President Bush's nominee, John Bolton, to be UN Ambassador to the United Nations by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee: "John Bolton is a nominee who is going to bring reform to the United Nations and is someone who can help clean it up," said Freedom Alliance President Tom Kilgannon. "By stalling on the Bolton nomination, they are allowing the international juvenile delinquents to continue to run wild without adult supervision at the expense of American taxpayers." Kilgannon said Bolton is the one man who could actually change things for the better at the U.N. The Freedom Alliance, founded by Lt.-Col. Oliver North (Ret.), describes its mission as promoting freedom and defending the sovereignty of the United States.

Wife: Honey, were you watching C-SPAN today? Did you hear how disloyal Senator Voinovich was to Republicans and President Bush? Voinovich stood with the Democrats and refused to vote for John Bolton, the man President Bush has chosen to fight for the United States at the UN

Husband: No, I was streaming it on the Internet at the office, but from what I could tell, Senator Voinovich played hookey from the hearings?

Wife: Yeah that’s right. He’s missed most of the Bolton confirmation hearings, but then shows up at the last minute and stabs the President and Republicans right in the back.

Target of Ad Campaign Over Bolton

Move America Forward to Begin Ad Campaign in Ohio Beginning Thursday

(SACRAMENTO) – The organization strongly backing the nomination of John Bolton to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Move America Forward (website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org), expressed outrage today that a Republican United States Senator would refuse to vote to confirm the President’s nominee in committee. As a result, Ohio U.S. Senator George Voinovich will be the target of radio ads criticizing Senator Voinovich for his obstructionist conduct in today’s Bolton confirmation hearings.

“Shame on Senator Voinovich. President Bush nominated a terrific man to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations in John Bolton. Senator Voinovich indicated he was absent from the Bolton confirmation hearings, which explains his ignorance of Mr. Bolton’s qualifications to serve as a voice for America’s interests at the United Nations,” said Melanie Morgan, Co-Chair of Move America Forward.

“Senator Voinovich is in effect serving as an agent of the obstructionist Senators who have already smeared Bush appointees Condoleeza Rice (Secretary of State) and Alberto Gonzales (Attorney General). He has now empowered Democrat opponents of Bolton to conduct a fishing expedition to dig up every unsubstantiated charge against him as they frantically work to embarrass President Bush by once again smearing another one of his nominees,” Morgan said.

Bolton, he just wants to hear the evidence so he can decide. This reaction is sickening:

I hope some eyes are opened to what the Repub Party has become. Voinovich is no saint by any means, and it is quite possible his action was a tactic to get him political favors or a useful PR tool ("See, I'm not a Bushbot!"), but the flames have been turned on him in full fury. From their own words, his expressed desire to evaluate the evidence means he is a traitor to the party. Sieg Heil!

This is supposed to be a democracy? Absolutely sickening. They don't even pretend any more.

THESE RINOS NEED TO BE KICKED OUT OF THE GOP!!!

I emailed Voinovich telling him I was tired of northeast Ohio's version of conservatism, and that I'd rather have a Dem who says he's a Dem than a Dem pretending to be a Republican.

Where in the hell is the republican leadership on this? A similar ad needs to be run in Kentucky, the home of Mitch McConnell, Senate Whip's. He is absolute derelict in his duties.

Apparently Voinivich is now claiming the Holy Spirit told him to do so. My response is that it wasn't the Holy Spirit that urged him to stab his collegues in the back without warning with a lame excuse of not having done his job. If a Spirit was whispering in his ear, it wasn't one sent by God. I didn't think I could despise him more, but pinning his betrayal on the Holy Spirit just sent my anger to a whole new level.

Ohio citiZens should recall his butt back from Washington.

Everybody from Cleveland knows Voinovich's brother is a mobbed-up contractor, and that MOB MONEY backed George's first forays into politics back in the day. George Voinovich is more than just a RINO, he's the mobster's friend. Another reason to get rid of this idiot.
