Sanders Will Be Candidate For United States Senate

According to a report just broadcast on CNN, Bernie Sanders will run for the United States Senate in Vermont!

Good. I hope he runs as an independent, not as a Democrat. He would easily win and would be the first socialist candidate for and member of the Senate in a very long time. Perhaps the first.

1. for which seat?
Jeffords?

That's going to open up the way for a Repuke to sneak in by splitting the vote

Bernie would be better off staying in the House--I can't believe I'm saying this

5. Democratic Party Had Better Not Run Anyone Against Sanders
If a Democrat runs against Bernie he will whip their ass along with the Republican candidate. That's what happened when Bernie run for Congress in 2000. The Democratic and Republican candidates got less than 30% of the vote combined!

So I think it's highly unlikely the Democratic Party will run a candidate and I hope that Bernie runs as an independent.

9. I hope the Dems do run a candidate against him...
And I hope Bernie kicks their ass just like he always has.

Reasoning? See my post #8, below.

15. They should run a weak candidate
It seems like a great way for someone to get campaign experience.

3. I'd take 51
of him! I don't care what he calls himself, an I or a D. Bernie is the best. The Senate won't be the same any more.

8. I would hope the Democrats do NOT endorse him
And it's not becaue I don't like Bernie. In fact, he's my favorite politician in Washington.

I'd rather see the Dems run someone against him in the race, and for Bernie to kick ass on the (D) and (R) nominees like he has in every House race. Maybe then, Democrats would wake up and realize that the kinds of ideas that Bernie has been promoting for years actually have some traction with people, and that constituents like someone who they know will fight for them rather than pander to them.

11. And he will probably win
He already represents the entire state in the House (VT only has one district). The big question is will the Republicans be able to take his House seat.

16. Dems
usually run a token candidate in the race, who gets very few votes. Bernie should win that seat. I would have liked to see Jeffords run again to make a point. Bernie will make a fine Senator.
