When will Frist push the button on the nuclear option?
What's your guess - as early as tomorrow or will he wait until next week.

Also, who will rise to make the motion? Him or some other GOP lackey?

More importantly, will they have the majority to affirm the senate president's decision? There are still a few moderate republicans - McCain, Snow, for example - who aren't keen on such radicalism in the upper house.

1. Soon, I hope.
The fallout from this is going to be tremendous, one way or another, and I am anxious to see the results.

What Frist would be "nuking" is the two-party system in this country.

Once they pack the Supreme Court, they can effectively undo the Constitution.
They also have the capacity to declare any disputed election in their favor.

A lot of Dems have been defecting on key votes lately, we can expect some
of those to defect more permanently after the nuclear option is invoked.

Eventually the remaining Dems will walk out in frustration,
and Repubs will be appointed to replace them.

The Republican party will become known as "the party",
as is the practice in one-party forms of government.

With permanent control of all three branches of the Federal government,
the media and most of the churches, elections become a mere formality

Our only hope is that there are enough Republicans left who still
value democracy. We Dems don't have enough votes to stop them.

4. My own thoughts are
that it will help the voters to realize what is at stake. I really don't believe that we are in danger of becoming a one-party state any time soon. The second party may not be the Democrats, though. If they don't wake up.

6. Well, in that
case we cannot win.

so it will help people realize that we have to take ourselves out of the country and give some better place the beneift of our skills and passion and intelligence and let the remaining people get what they deserve for voting for Bush.

2. If he does...........
he'll just be selling his future constituents down the river. You know, the whole "live by the sword..." thang.

7. Who's sitting on the fence re the nuclear option

Here's an link to an article about which repubs are still sitting on the fence about the nuclear option -

Frist won't bring up unless he has the votes for it - imagine his disgrace if he brought the issue up for a vote and his enough members of his party defected and it went down in defeat! (hey, I LIKE that idea!)

hatefest scheduled for this Sunday will help seal the deal, IMHO...this Talibush stuff is not playing well, and it's finally leaking out there to the NASCAR dads, who mostly think of Sunday as race day, not put on a suit and tie and praise Jesus day....
