Senator Smith could be a critical factor if the 'nuclear option' comes to a vote. His staff says he is 'very optimistic' that it won't come up for vote, but won't say how he will vote if it does. According to the staffer I just spoke with, they are getting calls 50/50 for/against (I don't really believe that). Let's add some more voices to this mix!!! Let Senator Smith know that you are an Oregon resident and urge him to vote against the nuclear option to end the right to filibuster judicial nominations. DC # 202-224-3753. I don't think it can hurt to call repeatedly, but certainly if everyone calls once it would be great. I called a week or so ago, so when I called this time I asked if the senator has clarified his position since last week. I do think it gets their attention to know we are keeping a close eye on this issue. Thanks to all!!!
