"Thank You Bernie!
About 40 Democracy for America supporters met with Rep. Bernie Sanders this morning to thank him for actively working to protect Social Security.

At the Chaimplain Senior Center in Burlington, VT, Carol Davis, Organizer of the Burlington Meetup and Jessica Falker, Steering Committee Director of Democracy for Vermont and 2004 Dean Dozen candidate, presented Bernie with a large banner and binder featuring local stories of Social Security success."

"Rep. Sanders emphatically stated to the press at the event that Social Security is not going bankrupt, he rejects any privatization plans and said that minor changes could keep the plan solvent indefnitely."

2. David Sirota's blog: Tell MoveOn to support Bernie for the senate.

Tell Moveon to Support Sanders for Senate
Moveon.org, the terrific grassroots progressive organization, today sent out a note asking Vermonters whether it should aggressively back Rep. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in the 2006 open-seat Senate race. This is a great sign that Moveon knows how important this race is - and their request for input from Vermonters is what makes them such a dynamic group that is so well-connected to the grassroots.

If you are a Vermonter, go to Moveon's special Vermont site to respond to their letter - and let them know Bernie deserves their support in 2006. With Howard Dean out of the race, and national Democrats ready to support the Independent Congressman from Vermont, Bernie is clearly the strongest candidate we can field to keep this seat out of Republican hands. For more on the dynamics, see Jerome Armstrong's post at Mydd.com. And see this new post at
Democracy For America trumpeting Bernie.

Why is this important? Because Bernie doesn't take corporate PAC money, meaning he has to raise money the old fashioned way: through the grassroots. Groups like Moveon will be critical to raising the small dollar, grassroots contributions that he needs to keep this seats for the Democrats.

3. Of course they should. Why the hell wouldn't they?
He's one of the most economically populists congresspersons. And he caucuses with the Democrats, so who cares if he actually calls himself a Democrat or not?

4. Exactly.
I just saw an article that sounds like the DNC is definitely supporting him.

Here is the link.
