1. He should take his anti-LABOR, anti-Working Class votes...
and run for President as a Republican.

3. One thing that stuck out for me...
Biden used "Tom DeLay" in the place where we would normally see George Bush's name used. In privatization, for instance. I think this is a good strategy. Bush isn't going to be around forever (thank God), and we need to focus on Congress for the next election cycle.

4. I thought Biden's speech got off to a slow start
but as he got more into in and began talking about broader issues, including the performance of the Repubs, the American people standing in line to give blood during the time of the 911 crisis, and that kind of stuff, I began to be inspired and felt that the crowd was riled up and loving it. I loved at the end when he talked about what a President like a Kennedy might have done after 911 happened - called together an international conference on how to deal with Islamic terrorism - instead were asked to do what??? - go shopping (this HAS to go down as one of the truly low points of the Bush presidency, imo).

I have a concern though - he was deriding the Repubs for their behavior during this session of Congress and criticizing them for bringing forward legislation like tort reform, bankruptcy reform and the like ... but he voted for those so it makes me wonder "what's the deal here, Biden???"

5. Only a moderate Dem like Biden can win in 2008. A real lib is dead meat

The Repugs know how to beat liberals for the presidency and chew them up and spit them out.

7. If it came down to moderate Dems, Hilary will get it over Biden
Edited on Fri Apr-22-05 09:26 PM by ClarkUSA
Biden is also not bulletproof by any means: from plagiarism to voting for the bankruptcy bill and tort reform, Biden has shown that he is not for the little guy. How about a liberal populist who most think is a moderate because of that military patina? Y'know, the one George McGovern and Micahel Moore endorsed. ;-)

8. Plus, he is
a jerk. Very inconsistent - brilliant one minute, pandering the next, too emotional the next, preening the next --- and the hair plugs are a joke. He is just fine where he is, but his ego will put him in the mix.

But on the other hand - perhaps he will derail Hillary just enough for Clark to come to the forefront.

He is a hotshot and she is way too polarizing - so my hopes are with Wes unless Edwards starts to gain more "gravitas" and widens his message and gets some gray hair to make him look his age instead of a senior class president.

9. O please, any Democrat running will be pegged as a liberal and
Biden will have a 34 year Senate record for the Repubs to dig through. No way would I vote for Biden in the primaries.

11. The best dems seem moderate but have liberal hearts. That isn't Biden.
I don't care if a Dem is a white southern heterosexual man who goes to church on Sundays. But if you scratch the surface, underneat the conservative appearance there better be a guy who cares about people who work for a living, who believes in Keynes, and believes in a progressive tax code, and doesn't see government as an opportunity to make his friends rich. I don't think that describes Biden at all.

10. Did Biden say this?
"You're one of the good guys. I really, really like you" Biden to Gonzales before voting for him to be US Attorney General....as heard everyday on AAR's Randi Rhodes.
