Bush Goes Back on Word and Encourages Irresponsible Abuse of Power
sorry if this is a dupe, this is GOOD!!! WTF!!!!

From the offices of Sen. Harry Reid:

BUSH GOES BACK ON WORD AND ENCOURAGES IRRESPONSIBLE ABUSE OF POWER

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid released this statement in response to the vice president’s comments on the nuclear option earlier today.

“In the span of three minutes, the vice president managed to reinvent 200 years of Senate history and ignore the fact that Congress has already approved 205 of this administration’s nominees. Apparently, a 95 percent confirmation rate is not enough for this president. He wants it all, even if it means shattering the checks and balances in our government in order to put radical judges on the bench.

“Last week, I met with the president and was encouraged when he told me he would not become involved in Republican efforts to break the Senate rules. Now, it appears he was not being honest, and that the White House is encouraging this raw abuse of power.

“It is disturbing that Republicans have so little respect for the separation of powers established by our founding fathers. Based on his comments last week, I had hoped that the president was prepared to join Democrats in taking up the work of the American people, but it is clear this is no longer the case. If the White House and Congress insists on proceeding down this road, Democrats will do all we can to ensure that Congress pursues an agenda the American people can be proud of.”

3. Was it this bad back in the Nixon days?
I really don't remember. I was only 8 or 9. Now *I* have a 12yo who was visibly upset and crying over the whole world/govt situation tonight saying nobody can make a difference. I tried my best to console her and remind her that indeed individuals DO make a difference - and are truly the only thing that CAN make a difference. I told her that the Revolution was won by individuals, not by the government. We *WILL* win and we will do it from a grassroots effort. I was thinking of telling her to write a congressman every time she feels upset with the situation. Thought I might have her sit with me during a writing session.

Of course, I wish I was as sure of myself as I sounded to her. :( She's concerned that there is nowhere to run to get away from this nazi-esque regime and that the possibility of a depression means that the family will starve or that we'll be stuck sharing housing with our repub *-loving relatives - which she likened to being cast into hell.

She has the makings of a wonderful liberal dem and I'm so proud of her. It hurt me that she was so upset tonight. I know people have said it's all cyclical and that it has been this bad before, but I have no firsthand knowledge and nobody alive close to me that would know.

4. I think you are handling her correctly..You are right about your remarks
about individuals making a difference..Sounds like she might need some reassurance about there being good people and even some good relatives. The Nixon Watergate 'break-in' scandal was bad and set a very bad example which unfortunately I believe that Republican leadership still adheres to. Nixon ran the country from the top and down 'mafiaso' style..(remember his 'confidant' BB Rebozo?) Nixon put himself above the law like any other 'don'..Later on it was said of 'Raygun' that 'nothing would stick' much like the 'teflon don' (Gotti)..Yes, I believe that the GOP administrations from Nixon through W have been running the country 'organized crime' style..Just the other day I saw a picture of Indiana Gov Daniels in the paper with a picture of the godfather above him. Just thought I'd throw that in too..

Lie to me for the 100 millionth time. Shame on Sen. Harry Reid and every other dumbass in DC! I'm sorry. Your not getting any sympathy or pity from me. Oh Boo Hoo Hoo Bush lied to you. No shit sherlock! That's what Bush does. He lies through his teeth at every given opportunity. That's what Bush will continue to do until Senator Reid and others let Bush know in no uncertain terms that will not be tollerated.
Hey, try this. Hold a Press conference to officially put him on notice. Mr President, We have overlooked your blatant lies about Iraq's WMD's. We didn't want to appear to be retaliating for the republican attack upon Bill Clinton over his lil white lie concerning personal matters. We have also overlooked ever other lie that has come after that. But now you have forced us to say enough is enough. We cannot continue to operate under a pathological liar. We cannot tollerate this any longer. So we are officially giving you a warning and putting the country on notice. If you tell one more lie we will impeach you if it concerns your personal affairs. If you tell one more lie we will impeach you and remove you from office if it concerns your official duties as President. However we will allow you to engage in any rouses of war that are legal under the Constitution and International Law. You can lie to the enemy and you can lie to the public if it serves a military purpose. But at no time will you lie to us. That is our final decission.

Otherwise, here's your sign: I'm Stupid. Please lie to me.
