It's neither offensive nor illogical. The woman is no Jackie Kennedy. That is just an obvious fact. She married WAY up. You can't deny it.
When you have a guy as good looking as Edwards with a wife as homely as his, then you are bound to have infidelity rumors, and people will likely believe them. That's not illogical at all.

of scandal or an iota of evidence about infidelity. They can start all the rumors they want to, it won't stick.

Moreover, given Edwards fierce devotion to his family, I wouldn't want to be the one who tries to start a rumor about his fidelity. They'd get their asses handed to him - he'll eat them alive for screwing with his family.

we see at FreeRepublic and has no place here. It is sexist to value a woman primarily on the basis of her physical attractiveness rather than her intelligence, personality, achievements, and talents.

It is illogical to argue that, because a woman is not as attractive as Jackie Kennedy, that her husband might stray, because Jackie's attractiveness obviously did not keep her husband from straying. That ought to suggest to you that the reasons men and women stay together are far more complex than physical attractiveness.

Did I make it simple enough for you to get? I have chosen not to raise the question of whose business it is if either of them has no affairs or a thousand.

I've alerted the mods. Perhaps they will be more liberal in their views as to what is sexist and offensive than I am.

We can sit around here acting as "un-sexist" and "un-looksist" as we want, but it won't stop the rest of the world from being so.

If you really believe that Republicans are chomping at the bit to attack him fidelity issues, his wife's looks are irrelevant.

This is one of the issues that we don't need to flesh out on our side in order to stave off Republican attacks. It's smarmy and tacky and has no place in this discussion.
