Freepers Frighten Voinovich Back into Bolton Camp
It sure seems that way, anyhow. The Freepers have been on one of their phone and fax orgies. They -- and other right-wing organizations -- have hounded Voinovich to the point where it looks like he's going to vote his politics, not his principles.

2. Well, I still think there is more of us than them and we should be
doing the same thing...We probably are, but no press. I think that everyone who does not want Bolton should fax, phone and e-mail Voinovich...Let get something going...Maybe Moveon can help...

4. I doubt they frightened Voinovich
I lived in Cleveland when he was mayor and governor. He never was the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he always seemed to have principals.

He did stand up to Bush over his tax cuts, and weathered a firestorm from Club for Growth. Let's watch and see. But encourage him none the less.

5. I'm betting he got one of those POWELL PHONE CALLS
When your former boss isn't enthused about your new assignment, it behooves people to listen. Otherwise, all they are doing is giving Colin even more name-naming grist for his next book!

6. The worse fear of any Republican Politician?
The worse fear any Republican politician has is that some time, some where, they're going to do something, ANYTHING, that will turn their base against them.

They care little for what WE think of them. All that matters is that they keep their base from turning on them. They know that if they actually had to DO everything they promised their base that they would do, they'd be in real trouble. It's kinda like paying off a loanshark. You try to pay just enough, the "nut", to keep from getting your legs broke (or worse). But if all you pay is the "nut", you never get out from under...and you know, sooner or later, the loan's going to be called. The Republicans are just now finding out that the loansharks are getting ready to call the loans.

7. This is almost like a badge of honor
"“Senators John Kerry and Barbara Boxer weren’t looking out for the American people’s interests or trying to advance UN reforms when they began their campaign to smear John Bolton. They were shamelessly trying to score political points against President Bush, and its imperative that all Senators, Republican and Democrat alike, reject the dirty tactics of Senators Boxer, Kerry and Biden,” Kaloogian said."

No, I've seen Biden playing politics. That was not what he was doing. I was very proud of him. And I don't even like the guy. He's too smarmy normally.

But he did good last week.
