why no talk on the private SS acct. 'payback' to govt. at retirement?

from what I heard on c-span: if the private SS accts. gets passed, what will happen is that upon retirement and use of the priv. acct. a portion of the money had to be paid back to the government.

are people aware of this?

1. I don't understand your post
but I heard you have to buy an annuity at retirement, so the money isn't yours to do what you want.

2. I'm not sure of it either. the guest kept saying that a portion of the

private acct. money had to be paid back to the govt. before the money was released. think they gave percentages.

I've been wondering about it ever since and haven't heard anyone else talk about it.

3. I've heard something like that....
But the real "Plan" has never, ever been released. They've talked around it, but no details have ever been made public.

4. Americans are as clueless as usual about this
Some people even think they will be able to pass their money down to their heirs...WRONG!

Others think they will be able to 'play the market' and make decisions about where their money is invested...WRONG!

There's a lot of misconceptions about Bush's "I have no plan" plan.

5. Because its deniable, since there is no "official" proposal.
I am familiar with the provision you cite, the one that says you pay back excess appreciation above a benchmarked amount.

The thing is, the way the Presidiot is presenting his plan is ridiculous, because he has never actually put out any specifics, so if the press grabbed on to this provision, he'd say "well, I never said that, and its all in the table. Lets hear all the ideas, I wish the democrats would come forward and put their ideas on the table, the only thing I know is that there must be personal accounts, but otherwise its all in the mix." I have heard him say it.
