Kerry: ‘Administration Shortchanges Women in Business’
Kerry: ‘Administration Shortchanges Women in Business’
28 April 2005

Today, John F. Kerry, Ranking Member of the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, called on the Bush administration and the Small Business Administration (SBA) to do more for women-owned businesses.

“Women business owners continue to be short-changed by the administration,” Kerry said. “The number of women-owned businesses is growing at more than twice the rate of all firms, but women entrepreneurs aren’t getting their fair share of the capital, counseling or contracts. There's no place for the ol’ boys club in our government. We need to ensure that, with a smart business plan and a lot of hard work, every American entrepreneur can achieve success.”

1. Thats all well and good Senator Kerry -
but there are more important things to talk about; like how in the hell I can afford to raise my kids, send them to school, pay for their healthcare and take care of myself when I'm old.

I'm a woman, so thanks for this, but....

2. That is part of that
Small businesses are the largest source of employment in this country and Kerry has been fighting for them as chairman, then ranking members of the SB committee for years. His communication yesterday was about healthcare, ...

And many womem try to make ends meet as Small Businesses owners.

BIZ, instead.

It is ridiculous that ANY small business owner thinks he gets a better shake with Republicans than Democrats. Democrats understand that most small biz suffers because of healthcare or lack of healthcare.

Kerry has advocated for YEARS that the US government put aside ONE-THIRD of its budget dollars for small businesses to compete for the work.

What a difference that would make to this nation's economy and the strength of its workforce. Instead of millions going to line the pockets of big biz execs, the money would go to small business owners, their employees and the communities where they work.
