Bush is rejuvenated by his performance at his press conference...
He feels the next round of polls will show he has gained ground on the SS issue. After 60 days of hard propaganda, he finally found the way to reach the American people - through the corporate media!

Meanwhile, the Democrats are uneasy. They have attempted to stay at a distance from SS issue and not make any concrete proposals, but they may have to change that strategy if Bush shows that he is gaining ground.

They are all sharpening their swords for the bloodletting yet to come. It has to be...

POS performance?

I don't think so...if he's gained any ground in the polls it will be because he couldn't sink any lower.....

egotistical SOB! :grr: :grr: :nuke:

25. Good, extend it to 90 or 120 days. Fill the rooms with fake Secret
Service and GOP faithful. Then send him to the ranch to fall down while cutting brush. Maybe this nightmare will be over soon.

3. I don't think he gained any ground.
That conference raised public awareness of the cuts in benefits he wants to make. People don't like cuts in benefits.

11. I agree, but . . .
I flipped through several of the networks after the press conference, starting with Elizabeth Vargas on ABC. The theme throughout was how Bush did much better, was "so comfortable" and "he's starting to really like these!" . . .
You and I saw a stuttering, fumbling, bumbling monkey who constantly changes thoughts 3-4 times in each answer.
But his body language showed him leaning into the answers and gesturing appropriately.

So if he gains any ground it will be on the cosmetics. That, and the fact that the bar is so low to begin with for this fool.

24. Forgive me, wasn't there polls out there showing that the American
people were not behind this shit? Then explain to me how can the American People still believe that the Media is liberal, and are not in fact lying to them with this crap? They know that they are not buying it...

Its like the Schiavo Case, the majority of the people polled Knew it was a ploy, were against it, but by what the media reported, the exact oposite was shown. I sometimes think that I am delusional, and that this is really a nightmare. What is black, is white......

40. *
We all gotta realize that these "people" are not in the real, actual, tangible world that 99.999999% of we humans inhabit! Their
world is so full of arrogance, hubris, self-deception, greed, ego
(is that enough?) that their imaginary world, though existing only
in their craniums (can't call them minds) drive them to absolutely
irrational policies, which sadly may destroy the earth in ways both political and physical. I predict there will be blood in the streets of the USA before the '06 elections. We Americans
must take matters into our own hands before it's too late! I'm merely guessing at this, but I foresee the Pentagon revolting...

8. Who says he was rejuvenated?
The sycophants and whackjobs around him? What do you expect him to say? That he took to bed after the press conference, so distraught that they had to pound 10lbs of thorazine suppositories up his ass with a sledgehammer?

Man, they are gonna lie about the weather. These guys are the living embodiment of pissing on your boots and telling you its raining.

12. In a way, I hope this...
... delusion persists, and `pugs ram through a bill to modify (read, terminate) SS against the wishes of the electorate. It will make the 2006 elections so much easier for everyone.

These folks think their asses are invincible, so I really want them to jump on the third rail and find out.

Of course, if the Democrats sorta, kinda go along (in the spirit of bipartisanship, naturally), then we're all screwed.

Can't keep up with you Kentuck. Some days you're so right on the money, Then, bip bam, off you go into bizarro world again. The press conference was crap, the 60 day bamboozlepaloooza tour sunk, Bush is going down hard. The only way he'll regain any credibility is if the MSM replays that "religion is personal" clip 100 times a day.

20. The next round of polls would have to be fixed.
For * to be satisfied with the results. I think that is how they keep the elections so close. They come up with poll numbers that make it look like it is close and then they use the blackboxes to close the deal.

23. Finally ! At long last ....
i am becoming more fluent in bushspeak. Of course his poll numbers will go up, why else would he have given the press conference? The numbers couldn't go up because of anything he's ever done...hence the press conference. See? And once his #'s are up, they will interpret the meaning of his high #'s to fit whatever policy they need advanced.

29. You're entitled to your opinion...
But you really should state that it is your opinion, because I don't think I've ever read such utter nonsense on here as what you just spewed. You are stating that as if you know it for a fact, and I cannot avoid wondering just what your intentions are in posting such rubbish. It sounds a lot like the double-speak that has come to symbolize how this administration does business, and if you're starting to think like them, do take a break... Did you happen to watch the press conference? Did you miss his complete inability to pronounce nuclear or peninsula? Did you not notice the irony of him saying there are people in Iraq who hate freedom and democracy, but want to bring back torture? Did you not notice his anger and frustration on stage when given the easiest of questions? Did you fail to notice that he said public opinion polls on the matter of social security don't mean anything to him -- even though less than 40% of the people polled agree with his plan? Sheesh... If you feel that he's rejuvenated or even thinks he is, I'd suggest you go in for a round of hearing and vision tests, because it was pretty clear that he bombed and he knew it, big time. :puke:

31. Well, thank you....
And when I post it in LBN, you will know it's been regurgitated in the MSM. Since that seems to be the sole criteria for credibility. I post my opinions all the time. I apologize that I did not label it as such. But, my intent was to be out in front of the MSM pundits that are so predictable, and to give DU readers something to ponder before they read it and post it form the Times or the Post...Yes, it is my opinion. I will post a link if it is any other opinion or "fact" as reported by MSM..

My instincts tell me that the right-wing media machine is trying to build it up as one of his "greatest" perfomances-- from what I have heard from talk radio and cable TV... I hope I am wrong. We shall see in the next couple of days...I'm sure the polls are being manipulated as we speak... IN MY OPINION...

34. Personally,
I just don't know how many Americans actually sat down and watched it. Probably some of **'s biggest fans, but other than that? Eh. I don't know. Maybe a few points' bump, but even that I'm wary of.

I just don't think Americans care enough to sit through an hourlong press conference that's postponing their favorite TV show.

36. Mmm, maybe...
I define his "biggest fans" as the twenty-something percent or so that support him no matter how screwed up his ideas are. Most of the rest, I would say, don't bother to do much research into the respective candidates, they seem to fixate on whatever attack ads and the MSM tells them. They're not exactly the types to read political magazines or do a lot of research on things that don't directly concern them. I'm not saying that it's necessarily a bad thing (I mean, people do have lives and priorities), but I don't think America really cares about the level or quality of debate in this country.

JMO. :)
