Pat Roberston goes looney on This Week -Video
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2005/05/01.html#a2721

The increasingly irrelevant Pat Robertson, who, this morning on This Week, seemed to reaffirm that nly Jews or Christians should serve in Cabinet and then attempted to tie Justice Ginburg to communism, tried to increase his relevance by throwing his weight behind Rudy Giuliani for President and cutting Bill Frist loose.

He also thought liberals are a bigger threat to our country than Hitler, Stalin, or Al-Qaeda.

1. So the Rev. Anti-Choice is supporting a pro-choice candidate?
Can you say, "hypocrite?"

I knew that you could.

3. I saw it this morning

It was the most revolting thing I've watched in years as Robertson used every smear tactic in the book against Justice Ginsberg, trying to paint her as some kind of communist for her work with the ACLU. Isn't bearing false witness a sin?

It was just outrageous and disgusting, and little George just kept feeding him questions without any real challenge. Why do they keep giving this hate-mongering nutjob airtime?

6. I actually thought George was good in that
I don't particularly like him and I think he's generally a weasel, but he really held Robertson up for some ridicule with his red-baiting and his comments about liberals being worse for America than the civil war or Islamic terrorism. He even made Robertson repeat that shit. And then he specifically asked him about distancing himself from Frist. All in all, it was a good interview.

BTW, I thought potato head Timmy was good with Allen and Dodd this morning too. I think the press smelled blood in the water for at least today.

5. He needs to take up another collection,
like he did for Rwanda for humanitarian reasons. Then he goes over there and spends it on business ventures. He belongs in a Fed prison ahead of Martha.

7. He supported Charles Taylor as a "Christian gentleman"
I shit you not. He also assiduously kissed Mobutu's corrupt ass for thirty years in exchange for diamond and mineral mining rights, occasionally salving his skinned-raisin-sized conscience by dispatching the occasional planeload of medical supplies, which promptly disappeared into Zaire's bottomless black market.

Can't really put my loathing for this disgusting little pustule of a human being into words, except to say that "insane frothing corrupt hyprocite" barely begins to do him justice.

15. There were also reports of Charles Taylor laundering
Al Quaida money through the diamond trade. Of course, no one knows this, because Martha Stewart and swift boat smears are what's determined by the powers that be fit for our news consumption. How is Pat Robertson tied in with this? Who knows, but his statements about Dems and Al Quaida is another example of rabid drooling conservative projection.

9. I like how
I like how he says that the Democrats are pandering to the "ultra-left," when like 68% of the population thinks the filibuster should stay. Of course, he probably does think that 68% of the population is "ultra-left."

And screw him so hard for using Jefferson.

10. Jefferson quote
Does anyone know if Jefferson *really* said he wouldn't have an atheist in his cabinet? I've been trying to find the answer all day, no success yet.

11. What he DID say was:
Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear.

-Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Peter Carr, August 10, 1787

If we did a good act merely from love of God and a belief that it is pleasing to Him, whence arises the morality of the Atheist? ...Their virtue, then, must have had some other foundation than the love of God.

-Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Thomas Law, June 13, 1814

14. If it existed then. Jefferson would have
put an athiest incharge of the Interfaith Initiative Office. That's another way of keeping church and state seperate.

Who cares about constitutional illegality...Pfaw! Have the Fristian Right put in Ol' Pat to replace Hot Tub Tommy.

That way, they get to appeal to their true Repug base AND we get to show who is actually wearing the pants at the Repug Funny Farm.

Pat! Pat! Pat!
