Interesting conversation in a gun shop today.

I was in the gun store of our local mega flea market today. In this very same shop before the election I heard the owner and several others knocking Kerry. Today the owner said "I think Bush is going to ruin this country" and talked about him screwing him over on medicaid and SS, and how terrible Bush and the Republicans were.

Possible this guy still wouldn't vote democrat if the dem had a record for gun control, but I am coming on a tremendous number of people who are growing to hate Bush and the GOP.

Of course this used to be a solid Democratic state, because people believed in the fact that there WERE programs and things that benefit the majority that the Gov't could do best.

6. Probably shouldn't say "shooting the breeze" in a gun store.
Someone might take it literally

2. Repukes defined all Dems as gun haters,
which is not the truth. Our local Dem committee said they wouldn't support Kerry or Dean, even though both talked about hunting, etc-and you know why? They didn't believe them because they were Yankees. They'd really swallowed the Kool Aid.

7. I agree
Kerry even had this whole photo-op thing of him hunting and people just claimed it was a photo-op. You never hear about Bush or any other republican politician going hunting. At least not me.

8. Obviously they were unaware of Dean's "A" rating from the NRA as governor?
Of course they wouldn't hear about that at an NRA meeting, especially when he was running for President against the guy who let them set up "a branch office inside the White House".

Dean's current stance on guns makes perfect sense. It's a local issue that should be left up to the states. You really can't compare Vermont or Tennessee to NYC or Chicago, so one nationwide policy on the issue really isn't logical.

10. these bozos
said that all Yankees are gun haters, basically. Personally, I think they were DINOs and had hijacked the local Dem Committee, making it totally ineffectual. I tried to rally other "newcomers" to try and unseat them, but they decided to launch an independent campaign for the Dems in our county, consisting of ads, meetings, and LTTEs. Since the election, I can't get anyone interested in doing anything at all.

3. Gun control is a non-issue with all the troubles we are heading into..
These gunowners better wake up soon, because what is coming down the pike real soon, thier guns wont protect them from.

Most are a bunch of Johnnie One-Notes, IMO.

11. I Like the answer "and I bought a gun in November"
I haven't done it yet, but I really have been thinking about it. Seriously, and I'm a 58 year old married woman (and I'm not mad at my husband)and I really think that a gun might be a good idea in case the crazy ones come for us.

14. I've already taken the firearms course, but don't have a gun yet
The main reason I don't own a gun yet is that I have a kid in the house.
