same way that Rush and company would use the following if it had been a Dem to say this:

Senator George Allen (R-VA) on Meet the Press on Sunday, May 1.

On private accounts, he suggested that Americans might have to sell their homes to survive in retirement. But, that would be a good thing, because they wouldn't have to trim hedges and cut grass, he noted.

In fact, he was trying to reassure people who are uncomfortable about investing in the stock market with private accounts.

So, he recognized that those who do, might reduce their retirement savings in the event of a market downturn (I hear those happen once in awhile).

But, he thinks allowing your own home to be your investment would get around that.

Although, it would force you to sell it when you retire in order to feed yourself.

Edit to provide Link (Hope it works)

1. Does Allen propose Poor Houses and Senior Orphanages?

Where are we supposed to live? What about those with no children or immediate family? (There are many of these people.) In my area, new senior housing consists of expensive assisted living complexes which are basically crappy apartment complexes next to the highway and the Home Depot.

Allen has been in New Hampshire, preparing to run in 2008. We need to nip his campaign in the bud by publicizing this outrageous statement.

edit: I don't think that there would be enough people to buy the houses. FACTS: The huge Baby Boomer generation will soon retire, Gen X is smaller in number than Baby Boom, huge numbers of new homes, condos and apartments being built now and record home ownership rates now.

I ask again, who would buy the homes?

I hate it when I see our own do that, a word manipulation introduced by Gingrich, et al to avoid Democrats from being associated with democratic.
