SO - Anyone seen a SINGLE US NEWS STORY on the UK memo yet?
I understand 60 minutes will be doing a show on Woodward's "Plan of Attack" book:

"CBS/AP) Investigative reporter Bob Woodward of The Washington Post reveals, in his new book "Plan of Attack," how plans for the Iraq war began, in secret, shortly after the Sept. 11 attacks."

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/04/17/iraq/main6124...

But where is anyone mentioning the exposure of the UK document and it's details?

Anyone.......?
Anyone.......?

Ah! But we have the typical Rove-release news story today, don't we?

Timed, once again, to be a positive headline story for Bush -showing we're still hunting OBL- while the UK memo story is pounding on the US news door!

"...The White House said the capture of al-Libbi was "a great success in the global war on terror..."

Anyone doubt they've had this guy for a while and decided to release the news NOW - on purpose?

Check out the photo - how long do you think they've been "working" on him? He looks dead actually.

2. No, but hey
there has been a lot of major news stories to cover, like Michael Jackson and the Runaway Bride story. I mean there are priorities.

6. And now they have started a new al-qaida capture story to take over...
Don't let them get away with this.

Call, write, email and spread the word. This appears to be our job for now.

3. No
but I have been inundating their email boxes about it. Even sending links to the story out of Britain. Probably just being deleted, but it makes me feel like I am doing something.

13. You're not alone -
'cept it isn't just your newspaper - it's ALL of our newspapers!

This is a disgrace. See the note (posted below) I've written to as many news outlets as I can find -

If we ALL write, will it even do any good? I don't know. But I can't stop trying.

12. Short but sweet note that I sent to all news contacts I could find
with attached highlights and links to UK news:

I wonder why we aren't talking about the Iraq War Memo leaked, then released, in the UK over the weekend! The US news agencies have become a joke, doing anything to hide the information that exposes plans for a war in Iraq immediately following 9/11 --and truth be told, before that by the PNAC.

Many of us know what's happening in the rest of the world and your attempt to keep us uninformed makes you, not us, look stupid.

15. UPI ran different versions of this several times

"Tony Blair released the attorney general's advice on the Iraq war after a memo was leaked to the media." A short blurb with no quotes or implications about the content.

here's a snip:
The 13-page document, submitted to Prime Minister Tony Blair in March 2003 by Attorney General Peter Goldsmith, concludes arguments could be made for both sides as to the legality of joining the U.S.-led war on Iraq.

This is in contrast to Blair's previous statement that Goldsmith's advice was "unequivocal."

It also belies Blair's claim that Goldsmith's one page statement to Parliament on March 17, 2003, which said military action would be legal, was a summary of his secret advice.

Goldsmith advised although "a reasonable case" could be made that invasion would be legal without a second U.N. resolution, that "does not mean that if the matter ever came before a court I would be confident that the court would agree with this view."

Admiral Michael Boyce, then chief of defense staff had sought, and received, Blair's assurance that British forces would be legally protected. But Goldsmith had warned that Britain, members of the government, or military personnel could be vulnerable to legal action."

That is basically ALL and the ONLY listing in Nexis-Lexis since last Thursday.

16. Why cant Dean, Kerry, Hillary, Reid & Obama speak up about it???
Edited on Wed May-04-05 02:32 PM by Dr Fate
That would get at least some coverage- especially if they all said it on one of those interview or debate shows.

I KNOW why the Republican owned media is trying to bury this- but I'm puzzled as to why no Top DEMs have yet to issue statements backing Conyers- or better yet- go on TV and speak up.

I referenced it just to prove the UK story.
