They REALLY did catch AL-LIBBI, but kept it a SECRET??
Oh I'm so CONFUSED!! But do I really, really care at this point?

Yesterday I posted, the TimesUK Article which read:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-1602568,00.html">Captured Al-Qaeda kingpin is case of ‘mistaken identity’

Updating myself this morning over at dKos, someone mentioned the article below, and I thought everyone would like to read it and draw their own conclusions.

So before we leap to our keyboards and start writing any LTE's, here's a portion of today's article dated 5/08 from Time Online:
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1058999,00.html

Even more remarkable than how the burqa bust came about was the identity of the operative that Pakistani officials announced they had netted: Abu Faraj al-Libbi, 40, a Libyan believed to be al-Qaeda's third-highest-ranking official--and one of the few individuals who counterterrorism experts believe may have knowledge of the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri.

But the arrest had barely been hailed by President Bush as a "critical victory in the war on terror" when the picture grew murky. According to an Islamabad intelligence source, the burqa-clad fugitive arrested by the Pakistani commandos last week was not al-Libbi but a local Pakistani militant.

Al-Libbi, the source says, had been seized a few weeks earlier, but his arrest was hushed up so agents could pursue unsuspecting collaborators. U.S. counterterrorism sources insist on the official version. "We not only believe, we know it happened this week," a U.S. official told TIME.

I'm really divided on this one. If they do have him, great! However, I so much wanted * to be made a fool. I suppose if I can take any solice from this, is that the majority of the sheeple won't know or care.

1. Doesn't matter
when they captured him. He's the office go-fer.

2. OR is the recent capture
the go-fer, and the one a few weeks earlier (kept hush-hush), the #3 ::tongue-in-cheek:: guy.

Regarding the several number 3's we've caught, I found a perfect explanation:

Number 4 moves up (none/0)

Once you catch number 3 number 4 moves up and is the new number 3. So if we just catch 5, 6, 7, 8, we'll have several number 4s and number 3s.

If we go any deeper, like 9, 10, 11, 12, it gets confusing, but they would all potentially be number 3s as well.

3. Sort of reminds me of the opening of The Prisoner
Prisoner: Where am I?
Number 2: In the Village.
Prisoner: What do you want?
Number 2: Information.
Prisoner: Whose side are you on?
Number 2: That would be telling. We want information..information..information.
Prisoner: You won't get it!
Number 2: By hook or by crook we will.
Prisoner: Who are you?
Number 2: The new Number 2.
Prisoner: Who is Number 1?
Number 2: You are Number 6.
Prisoner: I AM NOT A NUBMER, I AM A FREE MAN!

7. I disagree
The only way to win is to engendering the conditions that make people want to commit atrocities; until then there is only damage control.

5. There are TWO al-Libbi's.
"Al-Libbi" just means "the Libyan" in arabic. It's a nickname.

It's like catching "Nick the Greek" and getting him mixed up with "Aftab the Greek".

6. Did our special forces get him or did Pakistan forces get him?
Another point on this #3 capture..

I've read differing reports on who actually did the capture.

I tend to believe that Pakistan forces captured him and our special forces verified
the identity.

However, all week Bush and other republicans have been saying "our guys got him"
but the bigger lie is that this puts us closer to OBL.

I'm shocked when they even mention OBL at this juncture.

9. It's hard to tell
but I thought U.S. forces were restricted to Afghanistan(?)

Previosuly all captures in Pakistan have been credited to Pakistani forces from what I can remember.

So to sum up: some Libyan guy has been captured in Pakistan, either recently or a month ago, by...somebody.
