Conyers:You Are Invited to Participate in My First Ever Web Chat Tues 3 PM

Questions to be accepted beginning at 9am Eastern
http://www.democraticaction.org/

From ConyersBlog: http://www.conyersblog.us

You Are Invited to Participate in My First Ever Web Chat -- Tuesday, May 10, 3 PM ET
Special Guest -- Louise Slaughter

You are cordially invited to participate in a first ever live online chat with Congressman Louis Slaughter, Ranking Democrat on the House Rules Committee, and me on Tuesday, May 10, 2005, beginning at 3:00 p.m. eastern time and ending at approximately 4:00 p.m. (Questions will be accepted earlier however.) The “chat” is being hosted by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. To join in on the chat simply go to: http://www.democraticaction.org . Please feel free to pass this information along to any friends, colleagues, and family (and encourage them to sign up for my newsletter at my web site at johnconyers.com – you should as well if you have not already done so!).

Tuesday afternooon’s on-line chat will be a revolutionary event where two of the leading Democrats in the House pool their resources and expertise to interact with you to respond to your concerns and questions. Among the topics that I expect will come up include the Ohio presidential election and election reform, the Jeff Gannon scandal, the recent disclosure that Bush agreed to go to war in the summer of 2002 before they even bothered asking for authority, the Schiavo case and the Republican assault on the judiciary, Bush’s attempted rip off of the Social Security System, the various additional abuses and misuses of power by the GOP Majority, the upcoming legislative agenda, and the state of the Democratic Party.

Look forward to hearing from you Tuesday afternoon.

seems to refresh itself and never gives an OK after you "submit" - I suspect they're having problems getting it going.

I sent this note on my submissions:
Note: I'm sorry for any duplicates of my input but I'm not getting any OK after I submit plus the page keeps refreshing and losing my name and email address so I'm not sure I'm getting through. Wondering if it's a technical problem or if you're being hacked?

4. Is anyone getting their questions through? I mean, getting a "Thank You"?
I get the THANK YOU when I send a test message but when I try to send my own message - nothing.

the link I just posted.

First question:

emlev
What is being done to investigate and call to justice those individuals and organizations who interfered with the 2004 elections? In what form is your investigation into the 2004 presidential election proceeding, Representative Conyers, and will it extend to the massive problems beyond the state of Ohio?

Rep. Conyers: First, I want to thank every one for participating. In terms of the wrongdoing, we have asked GAO to investigate, the DOJ, and state law enforcement officials in Ohio. We have not gotten any satisfactory responses as of yet, but we will continue to pursue the matter. Your help and tips have been helpful, and we are trying to get the media to cover these stories as well.

edit: Conyers response is actually longer, just had to refresh to get more.

9. Regarding the UK Memo
Jeanne

What will be the next step concerning the request to Pres. Bush for a response to the British memo?Whether he confirms or denies the truth of the memo, will there be an investigation into it?

Rep. Conyers: This is a very serious matter. We need to know if the President and the Prime Minister planned the Iraq war before authority for the war was ever sought by Congress. Regardless of what happens, I will continue to investigate this to get answers, even if I have to go to London to verify the authenticity of the document. This abuse of power is the most serious we have dealt with during this Administration.

10. Yep, that's what I heard him say yesterday
on the Ed Schultz show.

I liked this one too:

davide2323

The White House has told the press that they refused to comment on the recently released Secret UK Memo. What can concerned citizens and activists do to help amplify the demand for answers from the Administration about the "Secret UK memo"?

Rep. Conyers: You must contact your Member of Congress and demand that they join us in requesting answers from the President. We may need to resort to non-violent demonstration methods to let the President know he cannot sweep this under the rug. Thank you for your question.

I'm game! :bounce:
