Iraq is becoming another Vietnam.
Edited on Wed May-11-05 03:23 PM by Botany
The #s are so against us.
* Iraq has 105 different factions
* Iraq was drawn on a map by the Brits in 1920.
* Iraq has 26 million people.
* At least 20 million want to see us dead and or gone.
* We have 130,000 troops there.
* We have killed @ least 100,000 Iraqis.
* Both Iraq & Vietnam started w/ lies & spin.
* In both cases we heard, "Better fight 'em over there than in
our hometowns over here."
* The Pentagon is starting w/ the Body Count BS .... Last Monday .......
100 Insurgents were killed and we only lost 3 of our guys.

My dream is to load Wolfowitz, Rummy, *, and the rest of the PNAC
bastards on a plane and fly them to Iraq, give 'em a M-16, and send 'em
out to meet the local folk.

2. There's one big and nasty difference
Vietnam didn't sit on huge oil reserves.............

I think we'll have a much tougher time pulling out of Iraq than we did Vietnam, and Vietnam was not easy.

5. There is an oilfield of the coast of South Vietnam.
In the 60's, rumor was that it had extensive possibilties. It was the hoitspot of speculation. I know ALL of the large US Based Oil Companies were involved in exploratioin and assessment.

The Indonesian Oil Fields ARE in production, and I beleive that Indonesia is a member of OPEC, but production from those fields never met expectations. Indonesia is an net OIL IMPORTER.

7. Which is why they threw aside the Powell Doctrine and substituted
Pre-emption. BTW, DoD was aware Saddam was studying up on the tactics of the Vietnamese prior to this fiasco. The PNACers and their rose colored glasses...are asses.
