4. I think they bought into
this whole 'global war on terror' fantasy even though everyone with any brains who has looked at the issue realizes by now that 9-11 was a 'Reichstag fire' LIHOP/MIHOP designed only to get * another term and also to manufacture a rationale for seizing Iraq's oil.

If you really believe we are at global war, then closing bases WOULD seem like the beginning of a surrender to "terrorists" or something. You have to realize the mentality of the average freeper. Even though we spend more than all other countries combined on our military, they still see this as a demonstration of weakness rather than a (baby) step toward fiscal responsibility.
