In Praise of Condoleezza Rice

As an exercise in understanding the appeal of political opponents I try to itemize the characteristics that contribute to their public persona. Although the list of Condoleeza's virtues is fairly short, she knows how to work with what she's got. She seems to be very hard-working and self-disciplined. She's crafty - she knows just how to please Mr. Big. And she's a team player - she'll take political heat for the mistakes of higher-ups. Now she's blaming herself for the John Bolton fiasco.

"John Bolton is eminently qualified for this job. And I'm the one who talked to the president about having John do this," Rice said on CNN's "Larry King Live," which was pre-taped for airing Wednesday night.

"When we were looking for a U.N. ambassador, I thought that John, with whom I'd had a lot of experience in his diplomacy over the last four years, would be a strong voice at the U.N.," she said.

That he'd be closely supervised if his nomination passed. Probably much like shrub is supervised by cheney

I'm sorry but she is a liar and a criminal in my view. Anybody can be loyal to their husband.....errr boss. That doesn't make her special.

Sorry. She's a neocon and as ruthless as the men surrounding her. I don't see anything virtuous in that. And I certainly don't see anything virtuous in her being forced to take the heat for the Bolton nomination to protect her 'boss'. Disgusting.

That Bolton may get bounced. Bernie was passed off as Rudy's responsibility. Bush has been exposed on this current and at least equal disaster. Condie stepping in sounds like a line of retreat opening up.

Somebody, for once and all, clue in the American people what "strong" means and that the Bolton kind is 100 times more undesirable than strong body odor.

The conversation always reverts to the Devil's Dictionary when it comes to abusing words. "Strong" is one that the Dems don't even understand.
