"Waffle-powered Howard" and other bedtime stories
"Howard sold himself as an anti-war candidate, when he supported Biden-Lugar!"

"Howard's record in Vermont was centrist, not progressive."

Sick of hearing stuff like that still floating around from the primary season? Feel like shouting at me, "He did not! Weren't you paying attention?! Get a grip!"

I don't blame you. It's crap. I found myself slinging it last night at someone at Dailykos, and I promptly apologized. It was a kneejerk reaction to a bit of primary war rhetoric, and not my style. And, I suspect, also not terribly true.

But then so is the myth of the windsurfing flip flopping elitist that nobody loved and who only wanted to be president because he only wanted to be president.

And I would respond the same damned way. He is not. Weren't you paying attention?

Now Howard is the DNC Chair. And Kerry is a very active Senator. Both need our support, along with Reid, Boxer and anybody else who shows signs of life.

I'm sick of "Where's Howard and why isn't he addressing my pet issue."

I'm sick of "Kerry's only running for 2008."

I'm sick of "Reid can't be trusted because he's pro-life."

etc. etc. etc.

Are we doomed to relive the primary wars until the next primary comes to subplant them with a new crop o' crap? Are we doomed to playing petty schoolyard games on each other because we don't all support the same people?

Could we act alittle bit more like ONE party? Once in a while?

And because I know it's coming, no I'm not saying you have to walk in lock step with little smilies on your faces. There's a difference between what I'm talking about and honest criticism.

The only asses that need kicking are republican ones.

9. Sometimes I think it's because "family" ass is easier to kick
And we feel like it's the only ass we can kick that will get us somewhere. The Repubs aren't listening, and there are limited ways we can fight them ourselves. So we push.

But we need to be careful not to push so hard that we end up with an opposite effect. Kind of like a kid who won't let go of a toy long enough for it to be fixed, we end up taking it back before the job is half done.

7. No. Old. Real old
It's a play off of his "People Powered Howard" slogan from the campaign.

Dean's folks waved flip flops at the Kerry folk, while the Kerry folk waved waffles at the Dean folk. Hilarity ensued.

5. I agree. You aren't asking anyone to refrain from constructive criticism
YOu are asking people to desist from destructive tactics and tired, worn out barbs.

10. Thank You
Lets keep our barrels toward the enemy and quit waving them around at each other in the trenches.
