Republican the Dem party has. We all know that the base in Conn is not going to be closed but it will make Lieberman look good when he "fights" the administration to keep it open. Smart move by Rove.

1. yes - I hope one of us is analyzing the list, cross ref-ing to senators
up for re-election

Is there any way to chronicle the effect of the threat of closure on the towns and cities listed today? Rove may come back later and change the list in order to get his people elected or re-elected

(by the way, Sen Thune is looking very weak at the moment - made campaign promises that he'd keep the SD base open - Ed Schultz is calling him Sen Whizzinator)

BUT

there has to be some palpable damage to these places, just being under threat of closure.

2. The politics will now begin to shake out from this list.
When it gets Congressional review and bargaing with the WH the people will be manipulated once again. Their source of power comes from actually having the power to control your everyday life.
