TX House- No Dems or minorities on school panel
AUSTIN - House Speaker Tom Craddick didn't include any Democrats or minorities Friday when he named 10 members to work with the Senate on the session's top issue of school finance.
...
Only one woman, Rep. Dianne White Delisi, R-Temple, was named, also to the HB 2 committee.
...
Both Republicans and Democrats in the House have been praising the congenial tone of the session, compared with last session's bitter partisan wrangling over redistricting. Craddick's decision to cut Democrats out of the school finance negotiations could create hard feelings in the critical end-of-session period during the next two weeks.

Here's part of what the House panel will be angling for-

...
Rob Looney, president of the Texas Oil & Gas Association, said the minimum tax hurts many refineries and chemical companies which have a high volume of sales but a low profit margin....
"Everybody loved the House bill," Looney said. "There was not a business association in the state that didn't love it. It offered pure choice with no minimum tax."
