Who's domestic policies were worse? (Reagan vs Bush)

P.S. I was born in 1984, and do not remember much from the 80's.

They're both pretty heinous. On balance, I'd probably say Bush, but it's a tough call.

I was born in '84 and really dont remember much from the 1980's.

I remember watching this newsegment in the 80s where this doctor and his family went homeless. He worked at freeclinic and they lived in poverty.

Homelessness was everywhere. But I can't spout without proof (not my style) so here is a snippet and a link.

In fact many homeless rights activists say the single most devastating thing Reagan did to create homelessness was when he cut the budget for the Department of Housing and Urban Development by three-quarters, from $32 billion in 1981 to $7.5 billion by 1988. The department was the main governmental supporter of subsidized housing for the poor. Add this to Reagan's overhaul of tax codes to reduce incentives for private developers to create low-income homes and you had a major crisis for low-income families and individuals. Under Reagan, the number of people living beneath the federal poverty line rose from 24.5 million in 1978 to 32.5 million in 1988.

And the number of homeless people went from something so little it wasn't even written about widely in the late 1970s to more than 2 million when Reagan left office.

His foreign policy is the most offensive, in all honesty. If I was forced to choose between his foreign policy and his domestic policy, domestic would win with flying colors. Atrocities were committed in Nicaragua and other places. The future members of the Taliban and Al Qaeda were getting weapons and training because they happened to be blowing up Russian soldiers, and Saddam was getting help from the US acquiring his biological and chemical weapons because he was slaughtering Iranians, nevermind the oppression wrought upon the Shias and Kurds.

Reagan did his fair share in setting the stage for what is happening today.

into our vernacular, made ketchup a vegetable and taught us that trees pollute.

All while managing to completely ignore the existence of AIDS.

What a guy.

he can't hold a candle to Bush. Of course Poppy Bush kept things going until Clinton came in. The son came in to finish the job!

But he had Democrats in Congress that moderated his agenda through forcing compromise.

Bush and his Republicans run the show and can do virtually anything they want, and they have.

Bush the Lesser is the worst by far.
