I sent the following to Rep. Slaughter this morning. She appeared on Countdown with Keith Olbermann last night and was extremely vocal in her desire to see the administration respond to the congressional request for answers to the UK memo. She mentioned O'Neill's assertion that an invasion of Iraq was on the table as early as the first cabinet meeting of Bush's first administration not once, but twice. When Keith asked her what she wanted from the White House her response was, "the truth would be refreshing." When Keith mentioned the Democrats would not be able to investigate the situation as a minority party in Congress she interrupted with something along the lines of, "That's not true. We can investigate. We can hold hearings on the lawn if we want to."
If you happened to see her or want to share your support, please consider sending her a brief message today. It is so important for our elected officials to receive feedback, both negative and positive.
http://www.slaughter.house.gov/HoR/Louise/Contact+Louise/EMAIL+ME.htmDear Representative Slaughter,
I had the pleasure of seeing your interview with Keith Olbermann and wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your effort and that of 88 of our representatives with respect to the UK Memo. I am encouraged to see political courage expressed in a climate that seeks to oppress inquiry and opposition.
Please do not give up despite media silence, far right political tactics and the perceived apathy of the American people. We are far from apathetic. We are either held in ignorance or frustrated and feeling powerless to affect change. Please know you have grateful citizens beyond your constituency who fully support your quest for the truth.
Best Regards,
