Bringing up the history of the fillibuster!

Senator Frank Lautenberg, "Why don't our colleagues on the other side of the aisle, open their eyes, take their heads out of the sand, and read the rules?"

24. I think Olbermann brought it all up the other night. And check this out:
Right wing sites want to boycott it because of what Lucas said:

Boycott Star Wars And George Lucas

When will Hollywood learn? George Lucas and his intergalactic empire have now been added to our official boycott list. Sad...but necessary. A bigger Star Wars fan you'll never find...until now. Our country is at war and Lucas spouts off this crap?

Star Wars a cautionary tale about politics

Star Wars is a wakeup call to Americans about the erosion of democratic freedoms under George W. Bush, George Lucas said yesterday.

Lucas, at a Cannes film festival press conference yesterday, said he first wrote the framework of Star Wars in 1971 when reacting to then-U.S. president Richard Nixon and the events of the Vietnam War. But the story still has relevance today, he said, and is part of a pattern he has noticed in history.

"I didn't think it was going to get quite this close," he said of the parallels between the Nixon era and the Bush presidency, which has been sacrificing freedoms in the interests of national security.

"It is just one of those re-occuring things. I hope this doesn't come true in our country. Maybe the film will awaken people to the situation of how dangerous it is . . . The parallels between what we did in Vietnam and what we are doing now in Iraq are unbelievable."

He just brought up the fact that there are clear parallels between the movie Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and what is going on in this country. He brought up Padmé's lamenting quote when Palpatine declares the Republic an empire, "So this is how liberty dies, among thunderous applause." I love this man!

Because the sheeple should just move along with the prod, passively, to the slaughter.

99. One did, sorry, forgot who at the moment
But he put up a chart showing the figures, roughly 44 mil. for Repubs and 45 mil for Dems. They all need to emphasize this point, it is so telling, majority my rear.

76. Schumer... You get 'em prepped and ready boy-o!
He's doing a great job reading off the entire list of all the Bush appointees that have been approved so far. It sets up a nice appetizer and it makes the Republican claims sound that much more idiotic.

208 to 10... Brilliant tactic!

84. Mikulski up now. Giving them hell.
There is a desire to change the rules so we cannot exercise our responsibilities of advise and consent. We must always have an independent judiciary. We cannot turn the Senate into a rubber stamp for any administration.

86. Am I not entitled....
Nelson's showing that he approved 97% of Bush's nominations so far:

"Am I not entitled as Sr Senator from FL to exercise my judgement as life appt for judges that they don't have the judicial temprement to be judges for life?"

87. What's next?
Nelson's asking "what's next?"

Are they going to take away my right to protect our military assets? Are they going to take away my right to protest drilling off the coast of Fl?

91. Instead of Frist, why not watch "Stackhouse Filibuster" episode/ West Wing
on Bravo RIGHT NOW!

I watched the Dems, but can NOT stomach Frist. Can always watch highlights later of MSM.

For now, I'd rather honor the Filibuster with "West Wing!"
