1. Some GA
Television stations broadcast into the area of Alabama that I live in, and everytime I had to sit through one of them I felt the urge to vomit.

2. Ruined my day!
Dang, and I opened this post thinking maybe there WAS an accomplishment because I for sure was not aware of it!

Just had to look at his picture along with the other two shining lights of Republicanism in good ole Georgia. :puke:

I'm just waiting for someone, ANYONE, to fill in the blank.

16. Not your fault.
I am affected by looking at that group, anytime.

Actually, I agree with you - I was just excited over the possibility someone had identified an Isakson accomplishment. Don't think it is going to happen. I believe he is perceived as the "moderate" Republican in Georgia which is not necessarily a good thing to the rest of the Republicans so they expect him to keep his mouth shut and rubber stamp whatever Chambliss says. And so far, he has done that extremely well!

4. Johnny just said on the Senate Floor
that if he had any brains he would have said the same thing the Repuke before him just said. Unfortunately, it just slipped my mind as to the Repuke before him was.

5. He's actually a much nicer guy then Zell Miller was.....
I used to work on the Hill for a Congressman who's office was across from Isakson's. His staff was terrific, and he seemed like a really friendly guy. Not a poser, but sincere. I disagree with everything he stands for, but I just thought I would add that, for what ever it's worth.

8. This thread will sink, but I just have one question
Who the hell is this guy, and how did he get elected?

11. He was a rep; his primary opponents were crazy pro-lifers
and Ass-suckson came off as (believe it or not) more moderate and less crazy. He represented a district in the north Atlanta burbs--you know, Runaway Bride country.

Of course once he won the ReThug primary it was pretty much over. The dems fielded a decent candidate (best known as the woman who'd beaten Cynthia McKinney in the 2002 congressional primary), Denise Majette, but she didn't attract much attention from the rest of the world.

I think the party wrote this one off, frankly.

Which is why I sometimes lose my temper and refer to my own party as "pussycrats," which is not intended as a slam against felines or wimminfolk.

17. Couldn't agree more with your assessment.
And I refer to my party as that bunch of 'damn democrats'.

Poor leadership. That's all it is.

19. oooh, get away from us with that amendment initiative!
weer SKAIRT!

Don't talk to us about that "Women are dumb shits who need to be lectured about medical procedures" bill either! Weer SKAIRT a' that too!

Yeah, the GA dems need a serious ass kicking. I know, it's no good to sit here and bitch about it at DU, I do involve myself at the local level, but the lack of national attention on what's happening to this once stalwart (ok, Dixiecrat, but still) Dem state is scandalous.

Maybe Dean thinks 'Bama's a better bet, dunno.

13. Ran for Zell's vacated seat
Edited on Thu May-19-05 04:33 PM by UnityDem
Dems couldn't find a heavy hitter to challenge him (Andrew Young supposedly mulled it over and then declined)....Isaskson has very deep pockets and spent lotsa money....his challenger (Denise Majette/African American female running in a statewide race - big uphill battle in Ga.) had no money and little support outside of metro Atlanta...plus she had the baggage of being the person that ousted Cynthia McKinney two years earlier for the 4th Dist.House seat. Many dems still resented her for that and didn't work for her (although they may have held their noses and voted for her). She also alienated some dems that couldn't understand why she was giving up her house seat and wanted her to run again for the house seat and not give it back to Cynthia. So, in essence, she had alienated both the pro-Cynthia and anti-Cynthia dems in GA. Bottom line, dems in Ga. and nationally conceded this seat and the prez electoral votes here. No money spent. Dean says that he hopes to rebuild the Ga.dem party from the ground up - it can't happen too soon!

Edited on Fri May-20-05 09:26 AM by RubyDuby in GA
it! I did just the other day about the filibuster. He gave me the right wing talking points in return, but he'll at lease answer you promptly.

So there we have it, his only accomplishment is that he's prompt.

He's a prompt asshat.
