It looks like almost all the Repubs are going to fall in line...
Will this be the final straw for the Democrats? Will this finally wake them up? Will this battle over the filibuster be the battle that shakes them from their slumber? Will they start telling the truth in more blunt terms? Is this what it takes ?

4. two edged sword
I think Dems have to admit that we have gotten our asses kicked for the last 5 years..... and it may keep on coming. But in my opinion, this may be a very good thing. We have fought the good fight against the Nuclear option and before that the Iraq War and the bullshit and lies that the bulk of the American electorate seem to want to buy.

Well........................ Let them! Is it not clear to all here that this is a disastrous policy that is turning th world's politic and economy against the aggressor nation?

Let it happen --- and then come down hard on these assholes. It will be the end of their era - Bill Fritz will be selling abortions back in Kentucky.

Let them hang themselves --- don't water it down - but be ready to pounce.

History of the Fillibutster and how it has morphed over time. But, as long as we Dems are seen as "Latte Drinkers" because a Rick Santorum can come up and give a "sound byte speech" that what Byrd and Kerry said is all "Lies" and his partisans believe him...then I think we will always be at "the back of the bus."

"THEY" have the "Media" in their pocket. Or, the media that folks watch as they ferry their kids back and forth to daycare/school/sports/etc. while they work two or more jobs.

We have to understand that the "soundbytes" which get through are on the cover of "newstand boxes" in front of the "fast food franchises" across America where USA TODAY screams headlines and if they are lucky there's an "Indy New Magazine (Local) who is more on the Dem side of things.)

In our "time warped America" today the MSM knows we only have seconds to devote to Bush/Politics in America today. And more often than not we see a headline and that's what sticks in our brain whether it's true or a lie...we see the headline.

7. There should have been hundreds of "final straws" for the Democrats
to grab the last 5 years. Michael Moore said there were two parties for corporations and none for the people. I have asked this question for 25 years now and still not sure of the answer: "Whose side are the Democrats on?"

Why do you think all Repubs will fall in line? I was somewhat optimistic yesterday.

9. Daily Kos has Hagel drinking the cool-aid
After several early statements in support of the filibuster, he is now saying that he wants an "up or down vote on every judge", i.e. now supporting Frist's nuclear option. Here is the exact quote:

Hagel: "I believe that all of the president's nominees deserve an up or down vote," Hagel said, quoted by spokesman Mike Buttry. "The agreement that has been proposed calls for three of the president's nominees not to get a vote. I could not agree to that. That is unfair and it's not right."

I wonder if he found a horse head in his bed last night, courtesy of Karl Rove and Co?

"up and down vote"...Hagel has swallowed the "manifesto" whole and can't even say it in his own words!
