Clark pancake breakfast in NH on C-SPAN now
Clark is doing fine. C-SPAN talked about a poll (came out today) that had him virtually tied with Dean.

13. Clark is talking about
real family values; how we need higher standard of leadership; pulling people together, not dividing the population; pro-veteran issues - you know, how Bush cut benefits etc.; emphasizing need for coalitions and alliances with other countries; making fun of Bush dressing up in a flight suit; JUST ACCUSED BUSH OF NOT DOING ENOUGH PRE 9/11; JUST ACCUSED BUSH OF TAKING US INTO WAR WITH IRAQ W/O REAL CAUSE AND W/O PLAN - Clark holds Bush accountable for the mess.

Edited on Sat Jan-24-04 09:02 AM by NNN0LHI
Maybe it is because I can remember when Bobby Kennedy was shot? JFK, and MLK too.

52. Amen to that.
Every time I see him in a crowd pressing the flesh my skin crawls.

I remember how Lee Harvey Oswald was standing in the middle of a crowd of cops in the basement of a court building when Ruby whacked him.

Bobbie Kennedy taking a short cut through the hotel kitchen, giving Sirhan Sirhan a shot at him.

Clark has many real enemies in life, violent enemies, and how hard would it be?

20. I am proud to be a Democrat
because the Democratic Party helps people.

When you talk about family values, you are talking about employment, because you if can't feed your family you can't take care of your family.

Family values= insurance, education, enviroment, put America back to work, lift family income

Air pollution= 100,000 premature deaths over the next 10 years

That's family values!

Connecting with people is what he does best. Debates are fine, and Clark does ok, but he is at his best when he is in front of the people.

As I recall *, didn't do so good at debates either.

30. Personally I haven't seen anything wrong with Wes in the debates,
But any candidate with real substance on the issues does better when given the bully pulpit than when only allowed to speak in short little sound bites.

55. The problem is, Wes hasn't been in any debates...
What we have been given are not debates. The candidates
are not parsing the issues with a good give and take,
for the most part it has been a game of gotcha and who has
the best oneliners. That's why Sharpton has seemed to "win"
at least half the debates. He's got great comedic and emotional
delivery.

I definitely think Clark has disappointed in his "debate"
performances. I do hold him accountable.

However, the bigger problem is the dipshit DNC having Fox
news moderating at least 2 debates. What a joke.

A debate requires two sides of an issue, and an impartial, disinterested moderator.

List those presidential debates held so far that meet those requirements.

He has the most amazing endorsements... MANY tied to LOCAL and STATE groups!

53. He ran down a list of why our nation is at risk
At the end, after the question period, he said he had a few things he had to say. He listed why our nation is at high risk. He included the terrorists who still haven't been caught, with our volunteer Armed Forces stretched thin by Iraq. (Clark values a volunteer Army, Bush is moving us back toward a Draft - these are my comments within this parenthesis). Clark said a nation that can not create jobs can not survive. But his last point was important. Clark said that the current Administration is the most closed, the most secretive, the most anti-democratic one in recent memory, and that it has placed our basic Liberty at risk.

Clark consistently levels the most radical charges made by any of our candidates positioned to possibly win the nomination (I said that for the benefit for Al and Dennis) against the Bush regime. He goes right at them, at the heart of their power. Wes is a man who literally has stood up to dictators in his life, and that experience shows.

59. A couple of problems.
1. Higher standard of leadership wearing thin. Needs to freshen it with something like "America deserves better than Bush."

2. Quote about "giving the rest of the world a little piece of what we have" not good. Clark needs to make sure that he is talking about a positive sum game where all can benefit. Zero sum games let the pubbies pit the classes against one another.
