to red..silver was for the silver standard...you know..down the yellow brick road). Add monetary policy or gold standard to the google and maybe you will catch an article on it. I think I read it somewhere... too lazy to look through all my books.

Let me know if you find something.

I think the fight at the time was that the gold standard was keeping monetary policy from being flexible..and there was not enough supply and it caused recession or unemployment. The rich had the stability and lack of inflation they wanted..but the poor were paying for it! You know..the usual.

Cannot remember exactly what the issue was at the time.
