What is best way to appeal to senses of moderate Repubs?
Are we just wasting our time? Are they really all the same? They have all drank the kool-aid and there is nothing we can say or do?Tomorrow should be an interesting day on the Hill. A tremendous amount of wailing and gnashing of teeth.

If they have the votes, they will know it before hand. If they start promoting the "compromise" tomorrow, that means they do not have the votes. Don't compromise on this issue, Democrats!

1. Delay has had them by the short hairs for a long time
so I doubt there's anything WE can say to affect any decisions they make. They're going to have to develop their own backbones and stand up to Delay and the other bullies by themselves.

At some point, they'll smell blood due to all the legal trouble Delay is in. At that point, they'll fight back. Until then, forget it.

2. Pepper Spray
or maybe a Taser.

Any moderate Pug who isn't already off the reservation is not really moderate.

3. Wonder what schemeRove has planned...
..to occur tomorrow so that the emotions of ReTHUGS are running high?

You know something will happen.

Will Cheney's pace-maker need sudden attention?
Will Barney be dog-napped?
Will Babs come down with a mysterious illness?
Will they claim to have corned Osama again?

C'mon.. you know Rove has big plans to set the mood jussssssssst right.

Something will come up... But what?

5. It's already happened - it just hasn't been filtered through the
right-wing echo chamber because Rush, Savage, Insannity and Coulter don't, as a rule, work on the weekends.

The event?

Laura "Pickles" Bush "threatened" at the Dome of the Rock.

Expect that to be the harbinger to overshadow the filibuster vote.

4. It's exhausting, but I chip away at them...
individually one issue at a time (fortunately, I don't know many...). It's amazing what I've gotten through to people on. The biggies like Social Security, outsourcing, and school vouchers, but I actually got a few people fired up over Frist killing cats, DeLay calling Michael Schiavo "a murderer," and Chan Chandler booting non-Bush supporters from his congregation (well, his former congregation...).

I'm going to start beating the rest over the head relentlessly with the full Galloway testimony and this quote in particular:

"Senator, in everything I said about Iraq, I turned out to be right and you turned out to be wrong and 100,000 people paid with their lives; 1600 of them American soldiers sent to their deaths on a pack of lies; 15,000 of them wounded, many of them disabled forever on a pack of lies."

Especially those with family/friends in the military (of which I am one) and I don't care who I piss off!
