2. They blame the media, Tillman's dad (attorney), and "accidents happen":
To: drt1
Of course this MSM outlet is more than eager to chronicle this angst and shed as much disrepute on the Military as possible.

I think the military was slow in releasing the details (they always are especially when an investigation is called for) however, I wouldn't buy some jackass attorney's spin on things.

Accidents happen in war, part of the "game". I was in the Army over 30 years ago. These parents have no clue. Their willingness to join the dark side show they aren't made of any "steel". I hope they are happy helping our enemies.

4. what morons
that freeper filth is essentially blaming the media for the backlash of tillman's death and the subsequent coverup? tillman's parents were furious because the crawford chimp used the fake story of pat tillman's death for political gain and they were pissed because the military lied to them, and this freeper dirtbag says it's all the media's fault.

hey lurking freeper scum: you are nothing but tools. you are garbage. white trash, all of you. rot in hell, scumbags.

5. And bring out the Swiftboaters to smear the family.
I only hope the family pushes this as hard as they can. Families with children fighting in Iraq should be outraged.

7. every freeper and all of their children....
....should demand to be shipped to iraq to fight and die for chimpy and cheney's halliburton war for oil and profit. every freeper who stays here in the states and cheerleads for the illegal war is nothing but a coward. since we see so many freeper filth posting in the free republic, we can only assume they aren't fighting in halliburton's war and it is obvious that freepers are nothing but cowardly cheerleaders (just like their hero, the crawford chimp).

hey lurking freeper filth: you are cowards. and, human garbage.

6. Okay, which one of you is Fred Furney?
He got this one in the freep thread before he was "zotted":

"Oh silly freepers. Cowardly stooges! Why not call 1-800-GO-ARMY and go over and find out if Iraq or Afghanistan really is like a trip to Branson, Missouri. Or better yet! Sign up your kids, Buffy and Biff, for a tour. Maybe they'll come back in a pine box. Do you idiots really believe this war is about freedom or the ability for Cheney's friends to gouge you whilst you will up your SUV's.

Ya wimpy turds!"

Thanks, Fred!

9. They've got better than freepers...
Edited on Mon May-23-05 10:13 AM by pgh_dem
They've got the media.

This morning heard "Tom Moore" on some talk radio channel giving the news updates. Made reference to Pat Tillman's family's anger about the coverup, and said (close enough quote for the internets):

"contrary to previous reports that he had died heroically".

I treated my radio to a healthy stream of obscenities.

Of course he died heroically...he died doing what he thought was right (however misguided). The people who didn't act heroically are the ones who panicked and shot him, then burned his clothes and pretended he'd been shot by enemy fire.

(edit for ps: This guy closes his updates with 'reminding you to listen to Rush Limbaugh every afternoon'. Should give an idea what kind of 'news talk' this is.)

11. I think the Pat Tillman story is a tragic one, all the way around...
For starters, those who were NOT chosen to play for the NFL, are rarely heard of, they die in a far off land, w/o the compassion of a grieving nation, because no one knows who they are! This is just plain wrong.

Friendly fire does happen. The military should own up to the tragedy, as soon as it is verified. Truth is, it happens, is tragic, and needs to be known.

Tillman was a 'celebrity' of sorts, so he made the news. IF the MSM was doing its job, we would have known about this long before it became generally known.

The Tillman family SHOULD be outraged, just as all of the families of soldiers lost and wounded should be.

Pat Tillman, joined the Army and went to where he thought he could do good. I won't belabor that point. As a Vet, I know that feeling, and respect it immensely. I respect all of our Servicemembers, and wish I could bring them all home.

What I cannot respect, are those that will call for more war, more sacrifice...and not sacrifice anything themselves. They stand up and cheer war as if it were a game played in a stadium. These 'patriots' refuse to up their taxes to pay for the war; they are not down at the Recruiters joining the service; they are not slowing their desire for oil, which fuels this war; they are not enticing their children to join the service; they are not attending funerals for those who come home in 'body transfer tubes'; they are not visiting or tending to the wounded. They are merely bombastic gasbags that could not find the time to aid someone, if they so had the desire.

OK, rant over...The Pat Tillman story is a serious one, and should be treated as such. Each death and maiming over there diminishes us as a nation. We should hold those who are to blame for this tragedy accountable, and ensure that a group like this, never gains power in this nation again.

Just that penultimate paragraph ("What I cannot respect...") should be enough to make a hardliner feel shame.

12. I read in the Arizona Republic this am: Mary Tillman (Pat's Mom) said
that she was particularly offended when Shrub sent a videotaped "condolence message" to be played at Tillman's memorial service at Sun Devil Stadium, right before the Elections.
(I would post a link, but embarrassingly enough, I don't know HOW!!)

17. Hear the daily freeper on Crossfire today when asked about
Tillman's family upset with Bush using the dead soldier's name right before the election and are now upset that they weren't told the truth from the git go. The repug actually said, "Well, I don't think the family needs to politicize this death." It is OK to lie about the circumstances of a soldier's death to make points before an election but when the truth is pointed out and commented on by the family it is politics. Un-fucking-believable.

Jessica Lynch? Remember her?
How do the Freepers feel about her?
Funny how soon they forget. I wonder if she can walk unassisted yet.

19. What about the Silver Star?
As a Viet Nam vet with two Purple Hearts and one who knows what it takes to receive a Silver Star, will this medal be taken back in the Tillman matter as it rightly should be? Pat Tillman, from what I understand about him, wouldn't have accepted it.
For those who feel he should keep it, read the completely false dialogue that goes with the high honor, and, then, argue your point. From this point forward, every time the "Silver Star" is mentioned concerning Pat Tillman, it would be a reminder as to how he didn't deserve it. If he did deserve it, then there should be over 1600 handed out so far in Iraq.
If Jessica Lynch hadn't been honest about what really happened in her situation, she would have the Medal of Honor today.....no doubt.
Monkey Bush has absolutely made a mess of everything he has touched in his entire life, but he has completely outdone himself as the appointed leader of this country.

I agree with your words, really, how could one not?

I remember all the press Tillman got at his death. And now it turns out he wasn't killed by the enemy but rather his troops? The military represented by the CIC should go on TV and apologize, post haste.

What if the bush gang had Tillman set up to die, so they could use him as a political tool for the election. I wouldn't put it past the BFEE.
