GOP phone jammer's jury questionnaire- There's a pattern
...to say the least. TPM has this snip on Tobin's case>

I'm just looking here at Tobin's lawyers' proposed jury questionnaire. And there are some really entertaining questions, like ...

"8. Are you now or have you ever been a member of a union?

[] YES, I am now
[] YES, I was in the past, but am not now
[] NO

If YES, what union(s)?"

"9. Are you or have you ever been affiliated with a political party? []YES []NO
If YES, what party?"

"18. If you have access to the internet, do you participate in chat rooms?
[]YES []NO"

"19. Do you read any blogs on the internet? [] YES [] NO If YES, what blogs do you read?"

3. Oh this is beautiful ...
His attorneys are seeking to throw out his indictment on the theory that there may have been Democrats on the grand jury. And they're also asking the judge to allow expanded voir dire to allow his lawyers to strip the trial jury of any liberal bias.
Does this mean I can void any traffic ticket because of perceived republician bias on the police because I have a DU bumper sticker?

6. Nothing unusal about this at all.
Jury questionairre's are a good way to try to determine if the potential juror is biased.

Read Clarence Darrow's "How to Pick a Jury". He warned against leaving specific jurors on the panel years ago.

7. IMO, DU is not a chat room, nor is it a blog. I could truthfully
answer no to those, since I don't do chat rooms, or read blogs. I have also never been a member of a labor union.

I am a member of a political party, so I would proudly answer Democratic Party.

Wonder where that would put me on this questionnaire?

8. Dems/liberals are considered more open to hearing the evidence
Edited on Mon May-23-05 01:05 PM by merh
before ajudicating guilt and are much more respective of civil and constitutional rights. Repukes/fundies are considered to be more judgmental, of the mind set "where there's smoke there's fire".

This bunch of attorneys could harm their case if they exclude all dems and liberals, given that dems and liberals are generally willing to listen to the evidence before making a finding of guilt or innocence.

9. If this were a quiz, the correct answers would be...
"8. Are you now or have you ever been a member of a union?

[] YES, I am now
[] YES, I was in the past, but am not now
[] NO

Hell, no!

If YES, what union(s)?"
I said No, dammit. Didn't you hear me the first time?

"9. Are you or have you ever been affiliated with a political party? []YES []NO
If YES, what party?"

The God Party!

"18. If you have access to the internet, do you participate in chat rooms?
[]YES []NO"

Y. BTW, A/S/L?

"19. Do you read any blogs on the internet? [] YES [] NO If YES, what blogs do you read?"
freerepublic.com, talon news and jeff gannon.net

Answer correctly, and you can take a box seat as a member of the jury.

Answer incorrectly and you can read about the trial in the paper. Maybe. If the media bother to cover it.

10. I would refuse to fill out the form....asking your party affiliation is
prying...our ballots are supposed to be secret and it has nothing to do with the ability to judge guilt or innocence.
