Cheney should be gang tackled when he walks through Senate door. Or..
a noisy demonstration by dems to at least let the pukes know they can't change the rules without 60 votes.

1. not to change the rules without 2/3's majority = 67 votes
That's the rule, so I thought. To change the rules 2/3's. Wonder how they are getting away with this 51 shit?????

4. Two things
First, it's a 3/5 majority -- 60 votes.

Second, they're doing it by having the president of the Senate (Cheney) declare the filibuster unconstitutional, and then voting on his decision, which requires a simple majority.

5. how they're gonna get away with it
they'll ask cheney if the filibuster is constitutional, cheney will say it won't and the repubs then table dem efforts to prove otherwise.

8. Why can't Cheney say 40% is enough then.
I don't get it-why is his definition of advise and consent the last word.

2. Why can't they?
What do you think is going to stop them? Their consciences? 51 votes is all it takes, unless the Constitution says otherwise, and in this case it doesn't.

Just shows the importance of winning elections, and the importance of us properly analyzing where we have gone wrong.
