1. "an independent judiciary is their greatest fear"
Yes, and this goes beyond the courts, beyond even the Supreme Court (in my opinion). This is about complete and utter dominance over the long period. Control of the judiciary means the repukes may NEVER LOSE ANOTHER ELECTION AGAIN. It's bigger than Roe v Wade, folks, it's about FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS.

2. Some days I really like Biden
Make no mistake. Some days he really gets on my nerves. But there are days like today where he really nails it to the wall, or when he blasted Bolton.

Good on ye, Biden.

27. The implication was that Social Security is in danger of being declared
unconstitutional if * is allowed to nominate adherents to the Constitution in exile idea. Sounds like the country needs a little extended debate on this doctrine. Maybe the press could help inform us. Biden challenged both press and Senators to "Read! Read!" about this doctrine in Judge Ginsberg's book and on the adherent's websites.

8. Every time I am prepared to write Biden off, he goes in
and makes these great speeches. This always makes me hope that he will actually back up what he says. He usually disappoints me. Sure sounding good right now though.

32. The scary thing is, if Biden is up there with all of the
fiery rage of righteous indignation, and G-d bless him for it, doesn't that suggest to anyone else that the Dems might not have the votes?

33. it suggests that the fence-sitters are keeping their cards
close to their chests. If you were a Republican and thinking of not voting with your party, you might be pretty close-mouthed about it.

I'm not sure anybody really knows how this is going to come out. It could be that some fence-sitters will abstain, rather than jump one way or the other.

Edited on Mon May-23-05 03:11 PM by phish420
...they do a roll call...I think it is just parliamentary procedure that allows the senators to take a little break...I noticed they do it in between 'rounds'.

by the way, its more like:
"History will judge this republican administration..." (drmatic pause...), "HARSHLY". lol.

About 15 min till I get the file up

He's such a great speaker... They used him as the 'closer' in the Bolton hearings too... although I have no idea if that has to do more with seniority or just preference...
