CNN/Gallup Poll - Bush Titanic is going down fast (from Daily Kos)
Edited on Mon May-23-05 04:41 PM by RamboLiberal
New CNN/USAT/Gallup, shown on CNN now -

"Do you approve or disapprove of the way George W. Bush is handling his job as president?"

Approve 46% (50%)
Disapprove 50% (45%)
"... the economy?"
Approve 40% (43%)
Disapprove 58% (53%)

"... the situation in Iraq?"
Approve 40% (42%)
Disapprove 56% (55%)

"... Social Security?"
Approve 33% (35%)
Disapprove 59% (58%)

<snip>

"Do you think the country would be better off if the Republicans controlled Congress, or if the Democrats controlled Congress?"
Republicans 36% (41%)
Democrats 47% (45%)
As a bit of history, in 1994 - before the GOP took over congress - those numbers were Republicans 42%, Democrats 39%.

1. 46 approval overall but not one issue where he gets that much support.
So basically there are 6-8% of people who do not support Bush on anything, but approve of his job performance anyway.

9. Count my parents as two of those people
I'm completely ashamed to admit it, but that's how it is. "He's such a moral man". Typical Johnson County Kansas mentality. It makes absolutely no sense.

12. For these people "morality" means one thing only
The ability to keep his pecker in his pants. Never mind raping the land, poisoning the water, leaving poor children to die without health insurance, giving huge tax breaks to the wealthy without taking care of anyone else, ad nauseam.

Next time tell them Hitler was faithful to Eva Braun.

The one I use on my family is: "My plumber is a moral man too, but I'm still only going to let him fix my pipes, not run my country."

7. That last poll that had him at 50 was crap, BTW
No one else has him higher than 47. I still want to know why his approval rating is 46 percent when it's 40 percent on the economy and on Iraq, and even lower on Social Security. It must be his "likeability." :eyes:

11. Frist's in charge of the * Titanic deck chairs...
Edited on Mon May-23-05 04:59 PM by Pithy Cherub
Is Frist determined to have a Moby moment and tie himself to the dead carcass of a republican whale?

Is Frist determined to be the hooded leader of the fristians as they are engulfed by a Phyrric victory?

Does Frist secretly wish to be the republican Palatine - he may want to fast forward to Episode VI...

And Frist does all of this knowing that the bush administration has hit a hidden iceberg of public opinion, its taking on ice-cold, arctic blue water and there are a limited supply of poorly made Haliburton life boats and he is determined to jump in as Celine Dion singing "my heart will go on"...

14. One would think that these numbers would give pause...
to at least a few moderate Rethugs in the Senate regarding the Nuclear Option, Bolton, Soc. Sec., etc., etc. But that would assume there are actually some independant thinkers still left in the Rep. party...one certainly wouldn't want to piss off the BFEE.

16. Down to 33% approval on Social Security
Can you imagine what the number would be if Stupidhead hadn't blown all his political capital on Social Security reform?
