"Spirit of America" - bogus charity?
This is a genuine enquiry: in the UK, if one is concerned about the activities of a charity, one can send evidence to the Charities Commission. What is the equivalent in the US?

In some quarters, there are strong suspicions that millions of dollars are unaccounted for at the so-called charity, Spirit of America (which claims to help Iraqi orphans, tents for Lebanese, etc), which may nor may not have been set up by the US think-tank, Cyber Century Forum.

Spirit of America also claims to run an NGO called "Spirit of Democracy".

2. That would be Bill Lockyer (Los Angeles, CA) -
do we have a prayer?

The Cybercentury Forum is connected with Spirit of America - see the "Financials" page of Spirit of America web site.

4. I don't know the problem you see with the charity,
but my feeling is that any matter is going to get handled by the civil servants in the division, of varying degrees of competence.

Moreover, if you can find a sympathetic CA attorney, they might be able to do something in a civil suit in the name of the people of CA.
