Please help! Stem Cell Research fax link here!
Hi Duers!

As the mother of a child with Type 1 Diabetes, I'm outraged by the nonsense being spouted by the Right-Wing pandering Republican House members opposed to H.R. 810. Umbilical cord research and adult stem cell research are fine, but haven't shown any promise in curing Diabetes or spinal cord injuries. If I hear Tom DUH-lay refer to cells in a petri dish as "children" again I will scream. Where is the logic in claiming that using embryos destined for the trash can is unethical, but creating them in a fertility clinic and throwing the leftovers away, isn't unethical?

If you support stem cell research, please send a fax to your representatives on your own or through this site:

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Zookeeper

2. That's interesting to hear, because...
I brought up the subject of stem cell research with one of my daughter's diabetes' nurses, and he refused to address it, although he was more than happy to talk about "technology" cures (pumps, etc.)

Bush says stem cell bill would cross ethical line By Steve Holland
2 hours, 12 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush on Tuesday attacked legislation that would overturn limits he imposed on government funding on embryonic stem cell research ahead of its expected approval in the U.S. House of Representatives

9. Here it is..........
The White House on May 24,2005, criticized as "morally troubling" legislation that would loosen restrictions on government funding of embryonic stem cell research, ahead of a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Those working to expand research are pressuring the U.S. Congress to change the policy, hoping stem cells will lead to medical advances on such diseases as Alzheimer's and diabetes.

The White House says this research "relies on unsupported scientific assertions to promote morally troubling and socially controversial research," Could he turn his head the other way if Laura had diabetes?

What I have to ask is what is so morally troubling about this legislation. God provided us with people smart enough to develop the technology to treat people who would otherwise not have quality of life. Guess what, a person can die from diabetes, I know because in February of this year my sister died of just that she was only 59 years old. I am not going into all the details of her very painful death nor how much she is missed by her family it is enough to say she died from diabetes. If the WH had kept it's nose out of this debate and had not stalled the research, she might be with us still.

Stem cells are primitive cells that have the ability to transform themselves into many other types of cells, offering the potential for regenerating damaged organs, or tissue. A stem cell line is a reservoir of stem cells derived from a single human embryo.

Bush was to eager appear with a group of children "adopted" as embryos from fertility clinics, but not all embryos are adopted. All to often fertility clinics discard the embryos, what good does that do?

Why should George Bush decided who is to die and who is to live, I know he claims to talk to God but he is not God. His claims of this research being morally wrong is not about morality but about getting votes, well in my book going to war under false pretenses is morally wrong too, but he did it.
