WASHINGTON, May 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- MoveOn PAC announced plans today to run radio ads and descend upon Republican House Members' district offices over next week's congressional recess demanding that they denounce Tom DeLay's flagrant abuses of power and fire him as Majority Leader.
The call to action comes as a civil court in Texas ruled Thursday that DeLay's political committee, Texans for a Republican Majority (TRMPAC), violated Texas campaign law when it failed to disclose over a half-million dollars in corporate contributions.
"Tom DeLay is a bad, bad man. A court has ruled that part of DeLay's empire is illegal. It's time for members of Congress to stop his abuse of power and fire Tom DeLay," said Tom Matzzie, MoveOn PAC Washington director.
On Wednesday, June 1, when representatives are home for Memorial Day recess, MoveOn PAC members will deliver petitions to their district offices. On Thursday, June 2, MoveOn PAC plans to saturate districts of targeted Members of Congress with radio ads. The ads will expose the members' financial ties to the majority leader.
