Takebackthemedia.com flushes Bible down toilet online
I think I got some god on me while doing it, it was messy - but in the interest of fairness to the muslim world and to defuse the situation we felt that it was only fair to Flush a Bible down the toilet..

Now they can call off the Jihad and no more people have to die (nor does Newsweak need any more White House phony heat) from riots, just from Bush's Major Profit War Machine..

It's The return of our Weekly Radio Show, just in time for Memorial Day and our first in a year - we have a lot of fun and don't take any prisoners - have a listen, we've got all the formats you need, even an RSS feed for you Pod folks out there (simply download to Pod and go rollerblading, mow the lawn, ignore pesky ambulances, it's a free country) :)

Here's the link:

http://www.tbtmradio.com/geeklog/public_html/index.php

Please spread the word, Takebackthemedia.com is Flushing Bibles for YOUR Freedom of Speech - don't be afraid to donate, we won't complain!

While at the site enjoy our over 50 animations we've created to fight the Bush admin - we've mortgaged our house to fight these bastards...

Enjoy!

3. Yes we DID
it was a BIG old King James Version, all white and leathery and was having a problem flopping around/swelling in there - I was reminded of the Movie "Moby Dick" the whole time.. :)

There's more, I even offer to kick Kid Rock's butt the next time he makes a poncho out of an American flag, etc, etc..

we have a lot of fun doing it

6. So how do you feel about torture?
How about those folks that dressed up like the Iraqi who was hooded, stood on a box with electrodes attached to him?

You don't believe in free speech?

Protest?

Since I served in the military to preserve Freedom of speech I'll practice it all I want and in any fashion I want. Don't agree with it, don't listen to the show - I don't think you did, or will anyway, fine with me, that's YOUR right - one of many being eroded by the White House and it's war on the media.

I'll go hang with SwampRat, I like his sense of humor :)

8. If "taking back the media" means perpetrating another wrong
to try to make something "right," then I want no part of it.

Swamp Rat does have a sense of humor and so do I, but I don't think juvenile toilet humor is funny.

You're not going to erase the memory of what probably was done to the Qur'an by doing it to the Bible. In fact, you're probably going to get another "write-up" in Time or Newsweek about those "crazy liberals over to DU...". Surely, there are more productive ways to prove a point (like joining in with Conyers or Amnesty International's calls to further investigate this travesty).

You're also correct in that you have the right to do such a foolish thing, but we have the right to call you on it.

Thanks for serving your country, btw.

9. Let me ask you a question
Do you have any idea how much of an activist I have been?

Do you know anything about the history of Takebackthemedia.com or what we have accomplished and done with or to the media?

Would you like to know or would you rather not listen to the other 98% of our show where we take on the Bush admin with our bare knuckles?

You might be surprised at what we've accomplished, and with media "stunts" as well as spending the last year making a film about electronic voting, a whole year where we spent all of our money.

We actually mortgaged our home to fight BushCo, was that Juvenile or Irresponsible?

Speak freely while you still have the right my friend.

Deal with it.

on edit: Look, I'm not a Christian, let alone a fundie, but I think this was a profoundly stupid move, politically.

Sorry. You've made me flash back 35 years, watching the Weathermen play revolutionary & blow themsleves and the Left to smithereens, and I'm not enjoying the deja vu.

your avatar.

I'm over 50 and I remember Jim MOrrison and his tireless work with Mother Theresa, holding starving children and comforting them.

How he became a fighter pilot, went to Nam and got all those medals.

How Pious and Saintly he was, never missing attendance at Church.

and you call ME an ass?

I'm sorry but I don't agree.

Maybe we flushed "No One Here Gets Out Alive." Jim MOrrison's autobiography..

Is that YOUR bible?

Yeah, he was an artist, and I'm 52 and a musician so I remember those days well - and I did plenty of drugs myself in those days, but I didn't turn into a fat blathering junkie and die in a bathtub..

He was as much of a drug sucking pig as Elvis was.

I know you ain't one of the band cos I've met the bandmembers and they have a lot more class than you've presented here.

He made MUSIC and that's all, fun to listen to, but that doesn't make him Gandi or a Shaman.. he was delusional and charismatic, bad mix, even for a genuis.

You don't like me or this thread, go find another place to attack people with personal insults.

I was inspired by that to flush my phonebook down the toilet because it had all kinds of missing numbers. It wouldn't go down even with a plunger. I guess 300 pages wouldn't fit.

We boycotted Limbaugh to great effect - within ONE DAY we cost him Radio Shack, Bose, Geico, some others, can't remember them all - went on within a few weeks to cost him See's Candies, Red Lobster, California Transit Authority, probably 25 or so corporations in all, maybe more..

No US, we just started the boycott and got everyone else to jump on board, the PEOPLE did it by joining up and hammering the corps..

I went on the O'Reilly show once about it, later on Joe Scarborough's show (twice, the second time for my entry "ARMY OF ONE" that was one of the 14 finalists in the Bush in 30 Seconds contest by MoveOn.org)and demanded that Limbaugh show us his enlistment papers, for all of america to see..

I'm sure we cost that nazi gas bag hundreds of thousands if not over a million or more in advertising bucks - we're working a new boycott, one that is more intensive and will lead up to the big treat, I want his fat ass kicked off the armed forces radio network OR demand that Air America Radio is added in equal time spans.

We're not done with him yet, the best is yet to come..

Of course that's when Michael Savage sued us for $500,000 dollars and we kicked his ass too :)

Remember, when Limbaugh says or does crazy things they are NOT political and of course only prove that Democrats don't have a sense of humor (sarcasm here and irony meter broken) --

If Ann Coulter says crazy things she gets rewarded.. well, why shouldn't there be a LIBERAL attack dog Ann Coulter style?

I'll do it - the first time I was on the Joe Scarborough show he threatened to shut off our mikes -- so it works folks, and I'll even take the heat FROM YOU while I fight for freedom and equal access to the media..

Stunts sometimes work better than 100,000 letters from well intentioned people that get tossed in the garbage and ignored by fascists..

Just ask Abbie Hoffman, or was HE juvenile?

Bring it ON, Limbaugh - I'm shaking in my boots you fat, traitorous punk.

Baptists haven't rioted when a Bible's been abused. The Episcopal Church hasn't gone on a deadly rampage because Scripture was profaned. Not a single Jew has run amok after a Torah was trashed. The Catholic clergy hasn't stirred mob violence when sacred items of its faith have been trod under foot.
http://politics.yahoo.com/s/ibd/20050527/bs_ibd_ibd/2005527issues01

What does anyone think would happen if there arose a story of Bible desecration? We don't have to wonder- there's a pretty close analogy in Jose Serrano's government-funded "Piss Christ" or the "Sensation" artwork on display in NYC a few years ago, both of which featured Christian imagery befouled with biological waste. All those hard-core Christians that Maureen Dowd loves to hate got mad, signed petitions, and wrote letters. No one died. Vive le difference.

http://conservativecontrarian.blogspot.com/

Since when did flushing a book down or in a toilet, even if true which it wasn't (sourced to be true), holy or otherwise, rate commiting murder?

Give me a freeking break. First off, it is a standard tacktic of the Islamics to claim Christians are abusing the Koran. It is used all the time to get mob justice against a christian you don't like.

Secondly, it is a material object.
It is a book. It is made of paper.

If they did flush it, so the F&%&k what?

26. That pesky First Amendment thingy
Use it or lose it. The faint of heart can whimper about going too far, in a country that started a war on lies, while some Americans won't care for even a pretend version of their holy book being treated just like other Americans holy book was treated.

In my opinion, anything that makes the ill tempered christian fundamentalists more shrill is all good.

33. Here's mine:
Plagarized from Andy Shephard, "The American President":

"America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You've gotta want it bad, cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say, "You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours." You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country cannot just be a flag. The symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Now show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then you can stand up and sing about the land of the free."

Thanks for protecting My Freedom of Speech. I hope you flushed twice to make sure that Leviticus, Revelation, and ESPECIALLY Job went ALL the way down!

Job was WAAAAYYY too freaky for me, and I lived through the 60s (I think).

Lo let the night be solitary & let no joyful voice come therein
Let the day perish wherein I was born...
And they sat down with him upon the ground
seven days & seven nights, & none spake a word unto him...

The JUST upright man is laughed to scorn!

HEY JOB DUDE! Lighten up!
You're taking all this waaayyy to seriously!

I've met people like that.
I stay away from them.

Plus, get out of the Old Testament. Jesus was quite the radical. Or at the very least, a liberal. Cared about the poor. Railed against the status quo, etc...

But as I say, never mind religiousity. Flushing, burning or otherwise destroying any book that you don't agree with is akin to RW book burning. And just as bad in my book.
