I often don't agree with Dean's position on the issues and flags, but his recent statement about the Republicans shows courage. I think we should all start describing the Republican Party accurately. We should also tell those Democrats who think we should play nicey-nice with the Republicans to switch parties so we can run real Democrats against them in the general election.

1. We'e done it their way, unsucessfully for several years now
It's time to stand and be proud of who we are.

Even if we lose at first, at least we will have our dignity. And after the undecideds see that we really stand for something, things will begin to change.

3. That's correct.
We've been losing because our leaders are concerned about looking bad.

4. "Even if we lose at first, at least we will have our dignity."
You realize that losing elections to make statements is a white upper middle class luxury, right?

5. Or, put it another way, we should not let them dictate the agenda
and while negative campaign does win votes, it is important to say what we stand for, not what they.

I think that if we say that we are the party of the working people, the party that is fighting for secure health care, economy and retirement, the implication would be that the are not.

This does not necessarily mean always taking the high road; Kerry's mistake (one of them) was to take the high road as far as the swifters. We need to be ready to get down to the gutter and be as dirty as necessary, but let us determine when and how.

2. Dr. Dean has only said the truth
He's keeping the dems and their issues in the spotlight. Even those politicos who spoke up against him are now using his remarks as a platform to get into the press and outline our agenda.

Side note: Dr. Dean almost raises the hysterical ire with the GOP as does the mention of Hillary. Interesting.

6. I agree
This episode has shown more about people like Biden than it has about Dean.

7. Dean has been attacked for "going too far"
but they cannot attack him for something else: telling the truth.

Repubs are a white, fundi political party. Stats show it. Appeasment will get us 40 years out of power as Repubs were in the US House. Confronting their lies will move us back into power.
