California Dems: Look what will be on the ballot this year
Got this from a friend of mine today. Apparently Governor Ahnold has been a busy little groper.

"Three Initiatives qualified for the next statewide election ballot

Three initiatives that have qualified for the next election - 5 others, including the reapportionment initiative, are pending signature approval by state election officials. The 3 qualified initiatives are:

• Public School Teachers. Waiting Period for Permanent Status. Dismissal. This initiative would extend public school teachers' probationary periods, requiring teachers to work for five years instead of two before they could obtain "permanent employee" status.

• Public Employee Union Dues. Required Employee Consent for Political Contributions. This initiative would require labor organizations to obtain their individual members' written consent every year before they could spend their dues money on political campaigns.

• Termination of Minor's Pregnancy. Waiting Period and Parental Notification. This initiative would require parental notification for unemancipated teenage girls who are seeking abortions.

3. I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said
"Terminate the Terminator"

I was amazed that no one pulled the driver over and charged her with theatening the life of a government official! (Considering the times we live in, you have to be careful about what you put on your car.)

I assume the bumper sticker was referring to a termination by election, and with that I heartily agree.

8. I was going to say back to Austria but they don't like him either
It's so hard for me to believe that he's married to a Kennedy. What the hell happened?? What a crappy choice for a mate!! Maria? Are you listening?? I know her brothers don't like AhNo. They made that pretty clear in an interview I saw last year.

And yes, I'd like to send him back to Gratz. He can hang out in the hills (alive with the Sound of Music) or go visit the military museum.

Or not. :eyes:

I live in California... if I were up in Canada, I'd be feeling so grateful!!

I don't think they have the equivalent of AhNo, Bush, and company up there.

Yet :hide:

27. It's very beautiful-- my little oasis
But let me tell you, every time I hear an airplane flying low, I freeze.

It's liberal here, though to me it just seems normal. But I do see shrub bumper stickers here and there. More often, I see the Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers, though!!

And earlier this week, I was happy to see "IMPEACH BUSH" on the car in front of me.

"Sigh"

It's a small thing but it keeps me going.

How is the political climate where you live?

28. It's mixed.
I see different bumper stickers depending on where I am. But there is a lot of support for * around, and that surprises me. I do see some great bumper stickers though. Teachers I know are mostly Kerry Dems.

I loved the Bay area, especially Santa Cruz. I was up there a number of years ago and always meant to get back.

30. What amazes me is that * supporters are proud of it
PROUD of what that bunch of maniacs have done/are doing to our country. It makes no sense. I'm continually reminded of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."

And, sadly, I no longer see bumper sticker flags as a patriotic thing-- they have come to represent (to me, anyway) this fascist government.

:puke:

4. That isn't good for Arnold
Those issues are going to bring a lot of NON-republicans to the voting booth. California's various government employees (teachers, state and local employees, etc.) are quite powerful out there from what I can see. Arnie isn't doing anything in these to really bring out the wingers.

7. Teachers will definitely show
And the nurses are ticked off too. More union busting.

And of course, California is more socially liberal--until you get below the Orange Curtain--so hopefully the social liberal majority should be out.

I'm crossing my fingers....

Firefighters, Teachers and he really is feeling it. The Gropenator nor his wife hasn't snuck back here in quite some time. I noticed he wasn't at the site of the recent landslide either - A BIG swath of Blue in a red county! He is really racing bush to the bottom of the poularity political garbage pile.

33. I read a LTTE recently that charged signature-takers up in Mendocino
County with totally misrepresenting the ballot initiatives.. getting people to sign by saying it was for an initiative to "put sex offenders away for life".

Not sure if there have been other reports of this kind of thing, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit.

35. Please note that the probationary period for teachers before
tenure is a monetary scam for districts. You can hire people to work for cheap for five years, dismiss them before tenure and not have a cause -and the teacher has no legal standing in court- and hire more cheap new teachers. Its killer. Don't allow it. Chaos in the teaching profession and no one coming to Cally to work.

36. Waiting period for unemancipated teenage girls???
:wtf: And Boobengrabber is pro-choice?

This is one initiative I expect to go down in flames!

Some girls are victims of incest or rape and it's outrageous that they should have a waiting period. Sometimes it's the parent who commits the abuse, so they should have to notify that parent? In some cultures girls can't tell their parents if they are raped or pregnant from consensual sex for fear of retribution.

If the Parental Notification initiative passes, can the ACLU, etc. get an injunction blocking it, bring suit and challenge it in court as unconstituational?
