Edwards eats Club Sandwiches. Kerry eats Fettuccine Alfredo
(January 24, 2004 -- 07:09 PM EDT)
I drove home from Newcastle late this afternoon and stopped at the Merrimack restaurant for a quick dinner. A film crew from Comedy Central was there filming a tongue-in-cheek interview with the proprietress of the place. And one of the questions the guy asked was what each of the candidates ate when they came into the place. Edwards? Club sandwiches. Kerry? Fettuccine Alfredo!

I expect a press release from Edwards headquarters before the night is out.

My question is: Is John Kerry the kind of president we really want? I mean I don't want the guy that eats a cheese steak daintily or fettuccine Alfredo at a diner.

27. In the Northeast
with its large Italian population, fettucine alfredo IS diner food!

31. Especially in the North End of Boston...
... it is not hard or expensive to find a plate of fettucine alfredo.

37. Here's the Olive Garden's recipe. Easy and delicious.
Olive Garden Fettucine Alfredo

8 ounces Cream cheese -- cut in bits
3/4 cup Parmesan cheese -- grated
1/2 cup Butter or margarine
1/2 cup Milk
8 ounces Fettuccine; cook -- drain

In large saucepan combine cream cheese, Parmesan, butter and
milk, stirring constantly until smooth. Toss pasta lightly with
sauce, coating well. Leftovers freeze well.

7. After topping out at 90k as a Four Star General
So, he took the opportunity after leaving the service to make some money for once. Yeah, he's just Mr. What's In It For Me, ain't he?

15. Yes
Clark is the ultimate Mr. What's In It For Me. Just look at how he was supporting Republicans and praising Bush and Cheney as recently as 2001. Then 2003 rolls around and Clark suddenly "discovers" that he's a Democrat and decides to run for president. I can't believe that anyone here even fell for it.

Fettuccine Alfredo is pretty difficult to screw-up, even at a diner, btw. :)

as it was a Clark supporter who posted this, I feel obligated to mention that General is a cushy job! So no, he probably didn't eat MREs as a general.

11. Fettucine Alfredo?
Have you ever actually had this? It is noodles with heavy cream and parmesan. It is quite simply the simplest, easiest to make Italian dish there is! It's easier to make than spaghetti and you are trying to portray it as if it is caviar. Seriously, find an actual reason for me not to vote for Kerry. One that has something to do with...hmmm...I dunno...issues maybe?

33. Exactly
See my post #27. I spent nine years in New Haven, Connecticut, where fettucine alfredo, baked ziti, eggplant parmesan, moussaka, Greek salad, and all those other Mediterranean foods WERE diner foods, and I'm not talking about the area around Yale.

If I'm in New Hampshire, I'm eating lobster. I don't care how the press spins it, and I don't care if it costs me the Presidential nomination. I have my principles.

from the grocery stores for a little over a buck!!

Don't see where the problem is. Trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.
