Something is bothering me about Clark (not what you think)
Edited on Sun Jan-25-04 10:39 AM by glarius
It seems to me Clark has been slipping in the polls since the remark he made the other night on Larry King, which has been portrayed as arrogance on his part....Have I misunderstood this whole thing? As I heard the remark, he simply replied to a question from (I forget who) that he was a general....It has been construed to look like he was saying "I'm a general, which trumps a leutenant (Kerry), so I'm better than him."....Why doesn't Clark or someone who speaks for him, make this clear?....He is being unfairly labeled elitist....

1. It was Bob Dole
Edited on Sun Jan-25-04 10:45 AM by in_cog_ni_to
who INSULTED him on Larry King Live the night of the Iowa caucuses by saying..."It looks like you're a colonel and Kerry is the General. You're not going to win." paraphrased. Clark was responding to that nasty remark and the RW media ran with it. They didn't bother showing Dole making the nasty comments just Clark answering it. Then he spent a week having to explain it. I hate the media. THEY are choosing our candidate for us and it SUCKS!

Also, the reason the Clark people can't explain it away is because the RW, WH ass kissing media won't give him a chance to! They have chosen Kerry to be king and that is what they are in the process of doing.

3. It does look like, from the beginning the media has tried to marginalize
Clark...Perhaps they feel he would have the best chance of getting votes away from Bush from the disenchanted Republicans....I'm not American so I'm watching this from afar...

7. Also, CorpGovMedia dislikes Clark for his Robin Hood tax plan
Clark wants to eliminate taxes for those under 50K and pay for it by increasing taxes on the rich by 5%.

10. I think you are exactly right.
I don't think the media knows what to do with a general who has a heart and really cares about domestic issues!

5. Don't take this the wrong way, but..
That photo. Yikes.

I'm a diehard Clark supporter, but it looks like it's designed to confuse him with Jesus. Maybe a little smaller, at least?

2. I don't think it was the comment that's hurting him
Keep in mind, that I like and support Clark, but the thing that's hurting him right now is the fact that Kerry seems to have the momentum. Before a lot of folks were looking at Clark to be the Dean alternative, but Iowa seems to have made Kerry the guy to beat. I don't think that Clark's General/LT comment is what has been hurting him.

4. all those things contribute but skipping Iowa really hurt
even if he had gone there and not done well gue to lack of organization he would, at least, have been involved and could have used the platform to interject his ideas. A poor showing would not have hurt him. Skipping it altogether was a calculated move that Iowa would not generate much interest and that he could really make hay in NH while the others were away.

None of those things happened.

Then he takes more of his gaffes and it all just contributes to his problems.

6. Again. We have only had ONE primary.
There are a lot more ahead. Declaring a winner, any winner, at this point is silly. It negates the voting in 49 other states by a lot of other people.
