Delay says Iraq = Houston
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 07:38 AM by bpyatt
Funny How I don't hear anything about the mass murder executions and car bombs coming from Houston.

Is this idiot that far out of touch with reality?

<snip>

DeLay offered this response: "These things take time and they take a
long time, and some people get weary of the constant barrage that we
see in the media.

"You know, if Houston, Texas, was held to the same standard as Iraq
is held to, nobody'd go to Houston, because all this reporting
coming out of the local press in Houston is violence, murders,
robberies, deaths on the highways," DeLay said.

"And if you took that as the image of what is a great city that has
an incredible quality of life and an incredible economy, it's
amazing to me. Go to Iraq. And see what's actually happening there.

1. But christian rightists hate cities, too
That's where all the minorities and single people and liberals and gays live.

Delay is trying to talk to US, telling us, "hey, you guys LIKE crime. Lay off about Iraq, already".

11. That's a great idea.
Maybe they should just move the repug headquarters there.

3. I think he should be made to apologize for that comment
He is putting down the brave work that soldiers are doing in Iraq and demeaning the loss of lives of innocent Americans and Iraqis.

** Of course I am being kind of cynical - but still this is just absurd. We will hear nothing about it in the media though.

7. I'll make a deal with you, DeLay
Bring our troops home and they'll patrol Houston for you. In return, you and your effete buddies in Congress take your chickenhawk a$$es to Iraq and do patrols in unarmored vehicles with nothing but your checkbooks to protect you from IEDs and mortar rounds. We'll see who winds up dead first, you amazingly pathetic excuse for a wuss.

HOUSTON?!?!? THIS is what the REPUBLICANS think our soldiers are up against in Iraq!!! Could the lack of respect be any more obvious???

9. I think more than half of Houston has clean running water today,
Mr. DaLay, unlike half of Baghdad.

What a bullshit comparison. Yeah there are wonderful things happening in Iraq. Unfortunately, they are overshadowed by the excessive misery there. Death, dismemberment, and disease trump new school supplies.
